Hi all
Recently I have started oiling my hair once a week since my hair started to fall a little more than it usually does. But, I have noticed that I seem to lose a lot of hair when I shampoo the oil out and even in brushing afterwards when the hair is dry. Is this something normal? Or should I just stop oiling and go some other route to arrest my hair fall issue?
Re: Hairfall with oiling
May be your scalp is just trying to adjust to this new oiling habit of yours. It will be fine after a week or two I think.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
Best to consult a doctor.
Also, it will take time for your scalp to adjust to the new oil. Give it like a week or two.
Make sure you use organic oil.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
It could be that your over washing your hair or using water thats too warm. Try cooler water and less scrubbing, if that doesnt work sometimes very oily scalps cause hair loss so you could quit using oils and see.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
Thanks for the replies, I have been using an Indian oil called mahabringraj , it has a lot of different herbs. I read some good reviews about it online, so thought of giving it a try, but now I think may be it it too heavy for my hair. what about vatika hair oil? Has anyone tried it, if so please tell me how was it?
thankyou
Re: Hairfall with oiling
May be that one didn't suit you. Why don't you just go with 100% organic oils, chemical free ones? Try mixing equal portions of almond, olive, castor oil etc
Re: Hairfall with oiling
Feeling depressed, washed my hair with acure Moroccan and argan oil shampoo yesterday and today while brushing I lost so much hair. My hair is already very thin and if I lose hair like this I’m scared I will have thinning patches on my head. I also did a yogurt and curry leaves mask before shampoo yesterday.![]()
Re: Hairfall with oiling
Try loreal arginine shampoo it helps reduce hair loss. Don’t pull hair tightly back or brush it roughly. Brush your hair only when its mostly dry and take multivitamins. There can be many causes of hair loss unfortunately. You can go to the doctor and ask him to check incase its something else. Also ask for a blood test to check everything such as iron levels are ok.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
You can warm your oil for a few seconds before applying like max ~5 secs. I use olive and almond oil, and so far no hair fall issues.

Thanks for the reply, Is olive oil easy to wash out, What are the proportion of olive and almond oil to use, and also do you use the sweet almond oil ?
Re: Hairfall with oiling
I’m sorry about your hair loss. A lot of things can contribute to this issue, and my first guess would be diet. If you’ve noticed any change in your diet, or you’re eating less, that would most likely be the culprit. If, you’re experiencing a ton of hair loss, then it’s gotta be some hormonal changes, and I would ask you to speak with your doctor.
Have you considered applying egg yolks to scalp and hair? I don’t usually do this, but the few times I have done it I noticed only losing 3-5 strands of hair! It worked very well.
If you have a hard time working with oil, just add a drop or two of hot water and mix before applying. My mixture includes 3 parts sweet almond oil to 1 part castor oil (castor oil is very thick). I also used 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil or rosemary oil. And drops of water if needed. This all goes in a 4oz spray bottle. When I want to apply it, I heat up a coffee mug of water and let the bottle sit in for 5 min. Then, I’ll just spray with one hand while massaging with the other. Less messy! You can store the rest of the mixture in the bottle in a cool, dry place and repeat! The only part I hate is washing it out! ![]()

It takes me 2 tries to get all the oil out. I just take half/half of both. I use the normal almond oil.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
What's your purpose for oiling? For the scalp or for the hair?
Re: Hairfall with oiling
use mixture of Kari leaves and coconut oil every other day for 60 days. Try it.

I have started using oil in hopes to reduce my hair fall and to make it somewhat thick and healthy because right now my hair is really thin, dry and frizzy
Re: Hairfall with oiling
The exact same thing always happens to me. I don't put anything on my scalp except shampoo. Conditioner, hair masks etc I always put on the length of my hair. I take Biotin 10 mg tablets and try and keep hair moisture do with leave in conditioners, hair masks etc to reduce breakage. The oil is also very hard to remove from my hair, even if I put a little. Takes at least 3 shampoos.

Re: Hairfall with oiling
1) When I oil my hair, a lot of hair falls out too.
2) I agree with the comment above that you should stick with pure oil instead of getting ones with multiple herbs/chemicals etc. Stick with oils like coconut, mustard, amla etc.
3) Oil will not make your hair thick. Oil does not create new follicles in your head. All it does is keep the scalp and existing hair look/feel healthy. A short/medium haircut with lots of texture/layers can make the hair LOOK healthy.
4) Start taking Biotin.
Re: Hairfall with oiling
Thanks for the replies guys, I think I would have to go see a doctor because my hair fall has increased quite a bit , I tried the egg with olive oil and honey mask , and I just lost clumps of hair in the shower and while brushing. I also think this acure argan oil shampoo is not doing me good either. May be I should not wash my hair at all.![]()
Re: Hairfall with oiling
^ Do go see a doctor. I pray its only a temporary problem, inshaAllah. Don’t worry too much. ![]()
Re: Hairfall with oiling
thanks, I hope it’s a temporary thing too.
