Hair Straighteners Overseas

I had a question about using ur hair staighteners overseas. Like..do they work? And I mean Pakistan and India..or are they available there too? cuz i usually straighten my hair and i don’t know in the world im gonna do when i get there and i cant use my hair straightener :(. im gonna look like a frizzy mess.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

You'll need an adaptor, then you can use it otherwise the outlets are different than the ones in the U.S.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

yeah..thats the thing..like i used an adaptor last time..and my straightener kinda blew up..and the adapter broke too..leaving alot of smoke behind. i was hoping that by now..they would be selling them now.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

actually I went to Pakistan in august and tried to use my hair straightner and it made my hair frizzy. So my suggestion is to get some frizz ease gels before u go. I know Pantene has a frizz ease gel. But u might want to get a few different ones to make sure that if one doesn't work u can hope the other one will. I would suggest not to blow dry ur hair there. Just let ur hair dry naturally and then use ur hair straightner and see. Try using ur straightner on lower heat so it doesn't burn ur hair or blow up.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

Razea, try a better adaptor maybe? If your really worried about your hair than you can get it professionaly straightened before you go. Like pyarri my hair tends to be frizzy in Pakistan , so having it done professionaly and than using the hair straigtner for just touch ups will work much better.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

yeah..belle..im planning to bring all my anti frizz gels and serums with me..i have something by biosilk and something else by paul mitchell which i guess shud suffice.

belle..like an idiot..i sent my cousin out to get an adapter..he probably bought whatever was the first thing he saw..and didnt bother to ask the guy who was selling it any questions. so i think ill go this time by myself..and ask around. im considering getting a mild straightening perm or relaxing treatment before i go..but i dont wanna loose my curls either.

thanks for ur advice girls :).

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

Dual voltage hair straightener are no dig deal these days! Check your straightener's cover/box. Most of them do have the ability to work with either voltage. I took mine with me to Pakistan and it worked fine, of course I knew it could work anywhere in the world.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

I've used my hairdryer abroad before through an adapter and it worked fine.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

hey dimagh..what straightener do you use..like the brand and model? yeah..shahreen..the blowdryer surprisingly did not blow up..tho i ended up using theirs just in case later it decided to act up

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

we used ours all the time in pak (without the adapater) and nothing happened. Infact we gave one of ours to them… or shall i say my mum gave mine to my cousins :hoonh:

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

Use converter 120v to 220v. I got one from pakistan for 250Rps. It worked well with my digital cam to my hair straightner.
Good Luck.

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

saddz..without the adapter? whats the brand you use?

thanks ilovemybaby :)

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas

Which one have I not used! :smack: ? .. I am a straightener freak! I now own 8 of them. The one I am at right now is Ergo, cost me $100. Switching straighteners really don’t do much to my hair. I can pretty much use any straightener and get the same effect. Nonetheless, I keep trying new models. :smack: The one I took with me was Conair Turbo Flat Iron (World travel).

**Some of you even had to use an adaptor :smack2: .. That’s a call for technology update! **

Re: Hair Straighteners Overseas
