Tried Donato....was good but depends on what level talent you select.... can get really pricey.
I'm very happy with my "desi aunty" that works from her home. She used to be in a salon but now she's got a professional set up at home so I go there.
I've heard good things about a place, I think it's called Agucci. Look them up if you want.
I like Donatos. It really depends on who your hairdresser is, everyone is different. Try new talents, they are trained and can be real good. Once you like them - ask for their card and always book an appointment with them. I have never had any complains with Donatos and I usually do a walk-in.
Also, it depends on what YOU want. If you are looking for something complicated, better to go with experienced ones. Not too much of a difference but they just spend more time in telling you how to maintain and take care of the new look. I always get layers with bangs so I don't even care.
If you want to replicate a style, take a picture of the style and show them. If you are particular about a length, don't just tell them chop off a couple of inches. Show them where you want it. My hair curls up a bit and I prefer being able to pull back my bangs into a ponytail so leave it a little longer.
I don't live in Toronto anymore but if you can call the Yorkdale location at Donatos, I think the girls name was Michelle. She did a great job and you may want to try her. I paid like $45.

Thanks - I called Yorkdale and they still have Michelle working there. I am freaking out over a bob cut - so I decided to take baby steps. Always had long layers - so gonna chop them a little more than I usually do and go from there :D
lol I hope its the same Michelle. What does she look like btw?
I had a good experience at First Choice haircutters :D
You're so funny.
I have NEVER had a good experience at First Choice.....LOL.
It's always been a challenge to get them to do what I want and then there are so many extra charges at the register....

Sorry for the late reply, I hope it still will help but she was short and chubby. Had short, dark hair back then. Looked italian.
And if I really was too late, I hope you liked the haircut she gave ya :)
I have tried them as well! Never charged extra and they did a good job for the price.
My worst experience was at a community college! Yes, haha!! It was terrible, I wanted to cry. The girl took an hour and a half, had to keep spraying my hair with water because she was so slow. She botched it up so her instructor had to step in to fix it. I ended up with a shorter length than I wanted.
Then, more recently, when I moved to a different city, I went to a well-known hair salon here. Every mall had it and they weren't even cheap. I paid $40. The woman made me wait so much, people coming in after me went ahead of me. Then she was sick as a dog. But I decided I will never visit any of its location ever again when the woman just kept on complaining about how thick my hair was and its so hard to comb and cut it.
