Hair removal help !!

Hey everyone,

so I have a problem . Ive never waxed my arms / legs and have just shaved them.. I tried waxing my arms once at a parlor but it HURT SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !! I screamed and told the lady to stop, i mean i get my arm pits waxed and back but the arms hurt sooo bad.. wht should i do as Im getting married in 5 months inshaAllah and I dont want to keep shaving… is there any way to reduce the pain, also I have a predisposition to break out after hair removal in folliculitis !! is there any way to reduce the pain and prevent folliculitis afterwards when the hair starts to grow back !!

also how long before the wedding are u supposed to wax ???

Re: Hair removal help !!

Ouch! Maybe just taking some painkillers? or...How about putting some ice on the areas that just got waxed?

Re: Hair removal help !!

As ladyred said, try taking some Ibuprofen around 30 minutes or an hour before waxing for some pain relief and inflammation. See if you can find some OTC anesthetic numbing spray or cream to minimize the pain. And yes, ice is soothing and provides immediate relief.

Re: Hair removal help !!

**Have you used hard wax or soft wax ie honey wax? I don’t really know if the pain is lessened with it, but you should give it a shot! And I’ve been on this kick lately about something called sugaring, where you use sugar wax type thing made at home as hair removal. **

Just go to http://hairremoval.about.com/od/sugarwaxing/ss/sugar-hair-removal-recipe.htm](http://hairremoval.about.com/od/sugarwaxing/ss/sugar-hair-removal-recipe.htm) for the recipe, and http://hairremoval.about.com/od/sugarwaxing/ss/how-to-sugar_2.htm](http://hairremoval.about.com/od/sugarwaxing/ss/how-to-sugar_2.htm) for directions.

Re: Hair removal help !!

the anesthetic creams you get come in small tubes and arent enoguh for large areas, they are made for like facial application before laser !! Ill def try the ice application to numb the skin !!

how many days before the wedding inshaAllah are u meant to get waxed...?????????

I ve heard of the sugaring technique will look into it thanks all :)

Re: Hair removal help !!

^ i think its different for everyone! one of my sis' got her waxing a day before her mendhi as her skin goes red afterwards and takes a day to go down. i got a full body wax a few hours before my mendhi function. but i don't react to waxing.

if you don't think waxing suits you b/c of the pain etc why don't you try a epilator. or maybe you just need time to get used to waxing. i remember my first time was horrible and painful as well. couple of years down the line and i hardly feel anything now.

before and after waxing i use body shop exfoliating gloves to prevent in-grown hairs etc.

Re: Hair removal help !!

I think it's really one of those things that you have to be strong and get used to. The first few times it hurts like hell, but it definitely gets better. And the way I think of it is that I only have to endure like 30 minutes of pain for like a month of satisfaction and being stress-free. That's what get's me through the waxing session. I used to shave as well but I find the headache of shaving really gets to you after a while. Especially when you are getting married and are going to have your husband be around you 24/7, waxing is the way to go.

I also find that going to the right waxer helps. I hated going to waxing ladies that would do little tiny chunks at a time - it would take forever. Now I go to this lady that does it super-fast..big chunks so it's over with faster..she does my WHOLE body, including brazilian, in less than an hour. It hurts yes, but it's over before you know it and then you feel great for weeks.

Hi Rani! Could u tell me of the lady u go to? I'm too getting married in a month and have loads of hair to be removed. I live in KHI by the way..hope u do too :)

Re: Hair removal help !!

Sorry, I'm in Canada.

RaniPakistani, could you tell me the name of the lady/salon you go to? I'm from Canada as well....Is she GTA based?

Re: Hair removal help !!

get laser hair removal, its permanent. Iv only had two treatmnts so far and i haven't had any regrowth for about 6 weeks.
It's very expensive and painful but totally worth it!

Re: Hair removal help !!

wow im surprised that you can deal with the pain on the armpits but not on the arms! for me its the opposite lol, it hurt sooo much! i just started waxing there recently, and the 1st time it took like 2 days to do one side!

Re: Hair removal help !!

I guess cause with years of shaving the hair on my arms are like really thick and thts why it hurts so much :(
it would take ages to do laser on the arms and legs and get results.. thanks everyone !!

Re: Hair removal help !!

A lot of people find that using Epilators is actually a lot less painful than waxing. I although find it a lot more painful! But its an alternative. you can purchase one and try it out to see. if you arent familiar with it, find a video for it on youtube or google it. you'll get a better idea.

Re: Hair removal help !!

I recommend you try hair removal creams like Crotex which get rid of your unwanted hair permanently and painlessly. That's how i got rid of unwanted hair permanently.
