Hey guys - just something I’ve noticed living in the US, wondering if other have seen the same…Do you guys find that people living back home tend to have better hair than people living in the west? Almost every girl up to age 30 has thick shiny long hair there, and here in the US, those girls are in the minority. Out of all my desi friends here (group of maybe 10-15, mid-twenties, many in professional schools - meaning they study a LOT), maybe 2 or 3 have really nice hair. My mom had amazing hair until 35, and though it’s not as thick now, it’s still quite impressive. I had really thick shiny long hair when I was living overseas (cousins called it pantene hair), but once I returned to the US, it really took a hit. Even my younger sister (high school in US) - her hair is not nearly as thick and dark as mine was when I was in high school overseas.
Not sure if it’s the american diet, the products, the stressful lifestyle? Have you guys noticed the same?
um, no. People that you have mentioned may not have colored and straightened etc their hair as much as people do in the "US" maybe? so their hair is not as damaged because of no heats/ chemicals. may have more to do with how they treat their hair instead of where they live.
^Agree.. If it's just being washed, oiled or tied back and not messed with too much there's not much that can go wrong.. When I was growing up and even into my teens it was rare for girls 'back home' to experiment with their hair as much as we do here.. course things are changing nowadays..
Yes, I've noticed the difference as well. My cousins in Pak ....most of them....have gorgeous hair and skin, MashaAllah. They don't dye it/mess with it....and I think the diet is healthier (less junk food, etc).
I so agree! When I was in Pakistan my hair were super shiny, thick and strong, and I used to straighten, and color them just as regulary. Ever since I came back to states I lost half the volume, shine, and my hair breaks WAY MORE than they ever did.
Lord I looked like a beauty queen in pak, yes my hair was NEVER straight cz of teh humidity but it was a beautiful curly/wavy mess...and abs clear skin. Here...eh. :(
I'm not talking about when you visit one place to another. I'm talking about people who have lived in one place. the change in your hair will only be noticable if you've been in one place for at least 2 years (that's how long it takes to grow 12 inches of NEW hair). But i guess some people agree with what I've noticed, and the lucky people with nice hair despite being in the US should be grateful. I do think its stress-related though - stress of driving, chores, etc is just not as strong in pakistan.
