Hair in the food ...

So you are serving food and your spouse/parents/other guests discover a hair in the food … how do you handle the situation?

Re: Hair in the food ...

Nothing - I just tell them

This is what I could manage on a such a short notice - dont worry , next time there will plenty more hair in every body's plate :)

Re: Hair in the food ...

To your husband you say : " it is not mine I am not a blond , where were you last night ?"

Parents and guests will not embarrass you and will move on to some other dish quietly.

Re: Hair in the food …

Naabigh :omg: yeah thats a winner

Mirch, :lifey:

Re: Hair in the food ...

so what does ISLAM says about - the presence of the hair in your food , does it make it Makroo or what ?

Re: Hair in the food ...

Eating anything humans is haram so do not eat that hair , no matter how much you like it.

As far as food goes it is upto you , some people do not get disgusted and will not throw the food and consume it after taking that hair out and pretend nothing happened. Specially if no one else noticed.

Re: Hair in the food …

^ hain? never heard of that at all

Re: Hair in the food ...

Makroo, really? I am not sure but isn't wasting all that good food (rizq) because of a mere hair a worse action islamically???

Re: Hair in the food ...

It's not really a mere hair.. It's a hair with bacteria and general grossness..

Re: Hair in the food ...

I think we all know most food has bacteria in it, if you could put all food ( in particular, restaurant food) under a microscope, you would probably give up eating altogether. In general most healthy people have a strong enough immune system to deal with it! :)

Re: Hair in the food ...

Haven't happened such thing so far but if it does I wouldn't let them eat from that plate, I'd replace the plate and food.

Re: Hair in the food ...

food can be put into the food bins we have these days in UK to make fertilizers.

Re: Hair in the food ...

I mean dont get me wrong, of course it would gross me out too, especially when eating out. Its just in principle it would still be wasted food IMO...

Re: Hair in the food ...

blame in on the guest.

Re: Hair in the food ...

^LOL

Re: Hair in the food …

Yeah Queerio , thats called tact :lifey:

Waise I am not in the favour of throwing food away either … Once ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a piece of bread on the floor and said to his slave, ‘Clean it and save it.’ At the time of opening the fast he asked for it and the slave said, ‘I have eaten it.’’ Go you are free as I have heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying, ‘Whoever picks up and eats a piece of bread from the floor, before it reaches the stomach Allah (The Exalted) forgives the person. Now that the person is forgiven, how can I keep him as a slave’’ said ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)

Plus, accidents happen … why embarass the person who has cooked the food with such a punishment that you throw away the entire dish :naraz:

Re: Hair in the food ...

yeah, plus if hair is so bad, why do we have it on our awesome bodies huh? yeah. eat it foo!

Re: Hair in the food …

Sorry I forgot to write that the reason why I mentioned the above sunnah… food thats dropped on the floor with most certainly have large amounts of bacteria and germs as compared to someone’s hair ! if we can eat that food from the floor … surely we can throw away the hair and at the maximum change plates rather then get ready to throw away the entire dish :hmmm:

Re: Hair in the food ...

i just thought of something. bacteria on hair'd depend on where the hair is from. what if it is nose hair :O OMGZ!

Re: Hair in the food …

And who knows that the hair landed in plate somehow instead of being cooked with the food. So give the poor host , wife , mother , dad whoever cooked the food , benefit of doubt.
