I have a fair skin color, and my hair isn’t naturally black either. It is more of a brown shade. So I was getting bored and was thinking of dying my hair black. Though I remember I dyed my hair black about a year ago and it looked kind of fake on me, or maybe I just wasn’t used to it, but I dyed my hair brown the next day. And now I am thinking of dying it black again.. so what do you guys think, should I dy it black or not?
Re: Hair dying
Dying black means you're trying to attain the african hair color affect. For fair, wheatish skin or caucasian looks, you must go for the darkest shade of brown as black shade belongs to africans. Pakistanis (Caucasian looking) do not have a pure shade of black hair. Natural shade of their hair is actually dark brown if you observe closely.
Re: Hair dying
What's all this African talk ambassador? No one said anything about Africans. That feels a little racist to me, eh.
Never dye your hair just one color. It always looks fake (unless it's very, very light). Because our hair has natural high and low lights, you need to make sure you address that whenever you change your hair color.
Dying your hair pitch black will likely look fake. Especially stay away from blue black. The photo's on the boxes of drug store pre-packaged hair dye are not the same dyes in the box, and they were applied by professionals.
That being said, I dye my hair black, because I'm too cheap to pay a cosmetologist lol
Excuse me, but what in the world are you talking about:nono4:
:aq:
For your information, there are many Pakistani’s eve ones who are “Caucasian looking” whatever you mean by that, who have jet black hair. Also …you dont know what you are talking about because if you are calling people who are extremely fair Caucasian looking you first of all need to come and look at “Caucasians”…Here in USA, the census bureau lists Pakistanis as part of the Caucasian race…any way Caucasian, as per European descent people, have more than just fair skin, their features are very different, and Pakistanis who are very fair, their features are different, just as Arabic people who are on the most part very fair, their features are different…
Anyway, you will also find many white Americans who have jet black hair…and for your information I and my sons have jet black hair…and believe me we are not African, (not that there is anything wrong with Africans, of course),
Also Africans not oly have black hair the texture of their hair is completely different, it is very coarse…whereas Pakistanis with jet black hair have silky hair. Please be careful as to what you say, and also I agree with the above writer, your commets did sound racist…that is not good!
Re: Hair dying
Woah!!! All that cry over a hair dye hmm.....
To above two poster:
I tried to attain african look once by perming my hair, coloring them all black with blonde highlights, tanning my whole body. I could not modify the features cz that was not in my power but I was happy with what I attained and I loved that so if anybody else trying to achieve the same, why would that be racist?? I dont understand that.
I did not assume this was some argument over 'caucasian/african' looks. I considered this an innocent question about the black hair dye. That he/she was not happy with the black shade she got after dying her hair black so what I was referring to as per my own experience that she will be happy with the blackest shade of color only if he/she wants to attain an african look because only a fool can argue that they do not have the darkest, thickest, coarsest hair. And that is naturally because they also have the darkest skin shade.
I was not discussing the the catagories and features of different races in the world. I referred to 'caucasian' looking Pakistanies as per the topic at hand. Definitely was not discussing white americans or pakistanies of african / indian descent so I KNOW what I was talking about.
If the original poster finds my post confusin, he / she is welcomed to discuss.
Re: Hair dying
dont dye them black if u feel uncomfortable with it and black hair colour is so difficult to get out u knw if u get bored or ur hair and wanna dye them sum different colour then it will be a problem cuz black hair dotn get dyed easily so u have to keep that in mind too if this is not a problem then go for black ![]()
ambassador: pakis dotn have black hair???
u have to see my hair sumtime ![]()
Re: Hair dying
Heh... kali billi, Im sure you do if you say so :)
You see the original poster mentioned that he / she did not have naturally black hair so I was referring to the Pakistanies of the same catagory.... like who do not have the blackest form of hair so I just meant to say that shade would not suit him / her on her present skin shade unless he / she is trying to achieve an african look. If that is the case, he / she might need and willing to change a few other things about her looks :)
Re: Hair dying
Ambassador, I understand and accept your clarification, sorry for jumping the gun...
It was actually this that got me going:
"for the darkest shade of brown as black shade belongs to africans. Pakistanis (Caucasian looking) do not have a pure shade of black hair. Natural shade of their hair is actually dark brown if you observe closely. "
But above you clarify that you are not talking about all Pakistanis...that is good because like i said, i have jet black hair, and i am Pakistani and I am also not dark skin, and many of my cousins have jet black hair and their complexion is very fair.
Re: Hair dying
^^ O no poblums, thass okie :)
OKay, so I was kinda amused at the first couple of posts and just was observing what a simple question had turned this thread into.
And I didn't find ambassador's comment racist in any way. I read it several times to find the racism. He could be mistaken but didn't sound racist to me. I don't know much about the differences in looks among pakistanis. But being a pakistani I have a very fair skin and have brown hair, that is not even dark brown, but middle brown... not light brown either. And in summer I have freckles in my face, instead of getting a nice tan, so I am not and never tried the african look, and wasn't my intention either. I want to dy them black just so it looks nice, it can look nice on a fair skin too, I wouldn't want to achieve african looks to dy my hair black.
Re: Hair dying
u get freckles it means u have cool undertones so blac is gonna be too dark right??
like ur gonna look pale in dark hair i think i cant say anything without looking at u :D
Re: Hair dying
well, yes it does look fake on me, the black hair, but it could just be that they look fake to me, because i am not used to seeing myself with black hair. However, Katrina Kaif is also fair and yet has black hair, kinda looks okay on her...
and burgandy? Isn't that a little out of fashion now?

I think it would like good on you...here in USA a girl with fair skin and jet black hair, is considered hot! Especially with light eyes, so if you have dar eyes, get some green contacts and you'll look stunning for sure!
