hair dye

I thought we can dye our hair any color other than black and that it is allowed. I had asked same question her ebefore and this is what I understood.
Recently I was told by someone again that RasoolAllah (P.B.U.H) did not dye his hair and that he compared the white hair with nur.
Also that the sahaba colored their hair using henna and some yellow color from a plant so it is not the same as the hair dye used these days and the wudu will not be valid just like it is not valid with nail color.
We can use hena to color nails and hair.

I searched online and that has confused me even more.

Does someone know if we can only color our hair using henna or are hair dye ok.

Re: hair dye

It is very easy .Ladies are allowed to do it for their husbands .
Men are also allowed but for good purposes .

Re: hair dye

Peace Sarad,

With my little knowledge, according to various hadiths Prophet Muhammad :saw2: had black hair with little white one and He :saw2: didn’t dyed His :saw2: hair with any other color.

‘Khatam’ i.e. a plant which is used to dye color and also henna used by many Sahaba r.a. Hazrat Abu Bakar r.a. used both (Henna and Khatam) to dye his hair till it became dark red coloured. Hazrat Umar r.a. dyed till it became yellowness.

‘Khatam’ and Henna not at first attempt changes the color of hair but after using it regularly many many times whereas hair dye which are used nowadays changes the color of hair at first attempt which i think is not recommended.

Better you ask a qualified scholar to answer your question in details with authentic references.

Re: hair dye

Thanks but it is just your words against the other person's word.
What I meant was, I am looking for references from hadith.

Re: hair dye

I have asked questions on different forums and have been searching as it is not clear to me.
I know that coloring hair is definitely allowed but I am not sure about the dyes available in the market these days.
Henna does not give me any color as I have dark hair.
But thanks for your reply.

Re: hair dye

Peace sarad,

I couldn't find any reference where coloring hair is allowed, althought using is henna can be found easily as well as its use also be seen/heard.

You need to be patience if you are using henna b'coz after many many attempts, you'll feel lil difference in your hair color but that is in case the henna is original. :)

Re: hair dye

Thanks.
Henna and khatam was used to color hair so that means coloring hair is allowed !! That is how I understood it.

I have applied henna soooo many times (and I know it is original). The hair seem to have a tinge of color in sunlight but in plain light or indoor my hair still look the same.

Re: hair dye

Peace sarad,

What I understood is that Henna and khatam were used to remove (overcome to) any other color on hair if inadvertently done.

Nice to knw that henna u ke hair pr rang lai lekin.....
