Anything special you parents do for the care of your young kids’ hair?
I have a 2 yo with very very curly hair.As much as I love her curls,it is hard to brush through them and her not liking it even a bit,does not help either.Her hair are not that thick but being very curly,they do seem to have a lot of volume and to me they feel a lil rough.ANd when she does not let me brush/comb them in an entire day,she looks like a jinn…:bummer:
Is there anything I can do to keep them healthy?
My ammi has always been an advocate for coconut oil malish/massage for hair and scalp.She used to do that for me when I was young but have hardly ever done it for myself or my kid.I used to use baby oil when she was younger and have gotten her hair trimmed a few times,but other than that nothing else.

Any suggestions…??

your mom is on teh right track

my son has very curly hair too.. and it can go CRAZY if i dont maintain it..

first off all. get a perm comb. its much softer on their hair and doesnt pull on their curls.

and next.. you need to lightly oil it.. its great for the scalp.. my son loves it.. champi champi he calls it.. haha... great for hair growth and blood circulation in the head.

i always put it on after his bath or shower.

oh and i find baby oil tangles his hair real bad for some really weird reason?! i use any oil but mostly olive.. it doesnt stink up the place like coconut .. almond oil is the least smelly.

So you oil his hair after his shower?Do they look oily or ‘chipkay howay’…??..Is almond oil,oily like coconut oil..?
I used to use baby oil when she hardly had any hair…:hehe:…I haven’t used any in quite a while.

almond oil is not at all oily like coconut oil.. i dont think any oil is as oily as that! and stinky too.

u dont put a whole lot .. just a tsp on your palm... rub it in your palm . i warm it up realll good for a hot oil treatment sorta thing :D

and then just rub in the scalp.. and massage your way out into the hair.. i give him a good 5 min champi cuz he loves it too.. even the tabla on the head :D haha..

and then i lightly wipe his hair off on a towel to get the wetness out. (oh i put the oil on wet hair.. right in the shower .. at the same time i oil his body .. its the best moisturizer ever! )..

his curls only look oily for a few hours....

I used to love the tabla thingy in my head when I was a kid…:hehe:.My daughter actually hates anything touching her head,be it a comb or clips or my fingers…:rolleyes:

haha.. i hope it works out.. both my kids get my love for hair play … i LOVE it if anyone plays with my hair.. fall asleep immediately :smiley: same with genie and midget :cb:

funny.. midget didnt understand the tabla concept initially.. so he would slap everyone on the head and say tabla baja raha hu :smiley:
