Hair advice

I have an appointment in a few weeks for haircolor and a cut. Currently I have longish hair, I’d say right up to the middle of my back, and while they are thick and frizzy, I usually wear them straight thanks to my flat iron. I am not looking to let the length go, but I do need some layers maybe…something to make my hair look healthy when straightened. I also need some definition but I am afraid of getting highlights. I have black hair.

Please give me some options so when I go for the appointment, I don’t make a silly decision. Thank you.

Re: Hair advice

What is your face shape Nikki? Have you thought of doing shorter layers and maybe some angling along your face?

Depending upon the shape of your face, you could do side bangs (these are easier to manage), a thick fringe in the front (these can be depending upon how much time you want to spend on your hair in the morning), etc.

If you're afraid of highlights, then go for a partial...they will only dye a few pieces (evenly distributed of course) so you can see if you like the color and the way it feels in your hair. Then, you can either keep them or go for a full highlighting throughout your hair.

Im going to get my haircut and colored too in a few days...I cant wait!

Re: Hair advice

I have a round face, my daughter insists it's oval. I like the idea of partials. And I don't want to spend anymore time than I do straightening my hair.

Re: Hair advice

Okay, from what I know of you…you sound like you could really pull off shorter hair well. But since you said you dont want to let go of the length, you should look into side bangs.

I loooooooooooove short hair but just dont have the face frame or structure to carry them off well.

You dont have to go this short but your bangs can definitely be that short and you will still be able to tuck them behind your ears or pin them up.

Re: Hair advice

oooo I like that very much. Hmmm, short hair doesn't suit me either. I guess this could work with my length too eh?

Re: Hair advice

Very much...side bangs are so much easier to manage too. They're cut longer and will grow out faster.

Now, Im tempted...LOL.

Re: Hair advice

I like these two for you…

Re: Hair advice

I like both. It’s getting harder to pick now :bummer:

Re: Hair advice

How radical are you willing to go? :hmmm:

Waisey, the one of Julia, that Skittlez has posted… that cut would look awesome on you :@:

Re: Hair advice

I don’t do radical :chai:

I like that one too. Do you think it’ll look nice with longer hair though?

Re: Hair advice

Niks from what i have noticed, getting layers actually makes the hair look unhealthy (unless you style it everyday).

in this picture..looks like she has 2-3 layers..and it doesnt look bad. …but again..its styled and everything

if your hair is black, I would suggest, lighten your base (natural) color 2 shades lighter to get this hair color…, and add highlights to the crown or do partial.
that way the highlights will frame your face.

There are tons of hair styles on this blog.

Re: Hair advice

I don’t have the patience to style everyday, so you think fewer layers would be better.
All the pics you guys are posting are lovely :hinna: Why can’t I have it alllllllll ???

Re: Hair advice

i made a mistake of getting long layers..uff..i dont style either..more like shampoo..dry..and off you go.. :)
so the hair cut was a total waste..i prefer a more homogeneous hair cut...that way hair looks healthy without much effort..although color/highlights will give you the change you are looking for without doing a drastic cut.

*dont get chunky highlights...get those super fine either partial or at the crown...but lightening the base color will definitely brighten your face..and the over all look.

Re: Hair advice

You could wear a sheitel (wig) like married jewish women... you could have a new hairstyle everyday! :)

Colourwise, Chanda is on the money.... cut-wise i think you should keep the layering to a minimum, but keep them long-ish; too short a layer will make your hair look like a poofy christmas tree.

Sweeping side fringe also? Very low maintenance compared to full blunt bangs...

Re: Hair advice

^i just got those :) side bangs are totally low maintenance..and they look great!

Re: Hair advice

Ok, so i’m liking the colour of Sandra which is like a rich chocolate brown, i’m liking the sweeping fringe of Jessica and the length of this blonde girl

I’m liking this style, modelled by CZJ
