anyhow, it was an embarassing defeat... would've been even more shameful if sami and malik got out earlier than they did.
i m all in to try sami as an opener ... if they can find a way to play him as a bowler then playing him an opener should be an easy justification :)

Over the years Pakistan strenght was bowling, they show good batsmenship once in a while but only reason they have better record abroad compared to India is coz of their bowling.
But recently they are struggling with their bowling, apart from Asif they don't have a decent bowler, I have not seen Gul and amount of cricket Shoiab plays he is not an option.
Over the years Pakistan was rated as dangerous team with some serious talent and they can beat any team on their day but recently that factor was missing, there is't talent in the team which can make heads role and who can turn the match upside down like Wasim Akram. May be this could change once they start playing in their backyard like India.

Sami and Malik were trying to save the biggest-ever defeat by runs' margin. Aus beat Nambia by 256 runs but Nambia needs to qualify for the WC. So if Malik and Sami have not made that stand,.......

The last few games incl. the last test have clearly proven that Akhtar is our only truly world-class bowler. Asif performed commendably in the test series but I have my doubts about him consistently running thru the top and middle-order on his own like Actor can. Asif needs to get a yard or two quicker (atleast Akram's pace) if he's to consistently trouble top-class batsmen. Line and length stuff simply won't do it all the time. I still don't rate Asif as highly as Imran, Akram, Waqar and Akhtar.
I am still not sure how good Asif really is or will be especially in the ODI. He is a very good test bowler and has got long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same sentence as Imran, Akran, Waqar or even Actor.
Yousaf is one real true World class batsman in the team. Simply as that.

He has been in the team for hardly one year. One mickey mouse ODI where he gets spanked for runs and all of a sudden you start to doubt his abilities in one day cricket. He will be one of the best bowlers in the death overs one day; mark my words :o .
