What are your thoughts on him? Should Pakistan have let him go, or done a full investigation on him?
Re: Hafiz Saeed
i think he is not criminal as far as pakistan law is concerned. Under his leadership jamaat Dawa has done a great job for the uplift and rehabilitation of earth quake effectees.
he was leader of former lashkre taiba that was a major mujahid force in jihad kashmir .
now pakistan stop ne kind of support to the jihadee forces one of the fall out is that the water level in river chenab and jehlum decreasing day by day. as india has built dams on the rivers (chenab and jehlum) and still building other dams on the rivers that flow towards pak that is hurting pakistan agriculture and in future cud make most of arable land barren.
as india is not taking interest in case of colonel shankir parohit who is accused in samjhoota express incident even the officer who apprehended that colonel got killed mysteriously in mumbai.
i think there is no need to take ne action against on the demands of Indian govt. as india has itself supported tamil tigers and BLA separation movement.

So what you are basically saying that it is OK to give a safe haven to criminals as long as these criminals plan their activities against India...
Good for you. This is the same mentality that has given rise to the jehadi monsters that are draining Pakistan.
Re: Hafiz Saeed
Its also the same mentality you display when you condemn Muslim counrties but refuse to condemn non-muslim countries for the same actions.

tit for tat!
i think this is a universal truth.
india should also do sth to uproot the hindu extremism.
by da way 14 consulate in aghanistan ...... what they are doing ........ supporting BLA and Indian supported taliban is not it?
What are your thoughts on him? Should Pakistan have let him go, or done a full investigation on him?
He is not a criminal according to Pakistani laws as well as Islamic laws, rather he is a commited muslim who offers his namaz five times a day and have great faith in Islamic principals. So that makes him a perfect muslim.
I wish every muslim becomes like him, NO ameen though, the world be a better place not to live in.
Good to hear that he is set free, now Pakistanis should increase their vigil.
Re: Hafiz Saeed
Information about Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and his orgainzation.
"Husain Haqqani, now Pakistan’s ambassador to Washington, wrote about jihadist groups in a 2005 essay while he was a visiting scholar at the Washington-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. In the essay, he said: “The most significant jihadi group of Wahhabi persuasion (PDF) [influenced by the doctrine of 18th-century Islamic scholar Muhammad ibn-Abdul Wahhab] is Lashkar-e-Taiba” which is backed by Saudi money and protected by Pakistani intelligence services. According to South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), a terrorism database on the region, LeT’s professed ideology goes beyond merely challenging India’s sovereignty over the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The LeT’s agenda, as outlined in a pamphlet titled, “Why are we waging jihad,” includes the restoration of Islamic rule over all parts of India, it says. The pamphlet also declares the United States, Israel, and India as existential enemies of Islam, writes Haqqani. The portal adds: LeT “seeks to bring about a union of all Muslim majority regions in countries that surround Pakistan.” According to Haqqani, LeT justifies its ideology by the Quranic verse that says, “You are obligated to fight even though it is something you do not like” (2:216).
The group has its headquarters in Muridke near Lahore in Pakistan, say experts, and is headed by Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, a former Islamic-studies professor. In December 2008, New Delhi demanded that Islamabad hand over Saeed as a suspect wanted for terrorism in India, including the November 2008 Mumbai attacks…"
So apostasy is a crime in Pakistan (well, so long as the apostate is an ex-Muslim otherwise apostasy is cheered!), an Ahmadiyaa saying "salaam" would get 3 years in prison, drinking Muree Beer is a crime, yet jihadism is perfectly fine in Pakistan. Then Pakistan wonders why it has such a huge terrorism problem. Unbelievable!

I am not fan of LET or The Hafiz Saeed.
now every taliban and al qaida or any general muslim with beard is a terrorist and guilty without trial and deserve death!
jihadism was perfectly fine when it was required by USA against Russia apart from that its Terror!
Unbelievable!!

From a purist humanist, legalist, ....ist point of view he is wrong, but from real, practical, survival point of view he is right. US, UK, India and everyone does the same, so why should it change only for Pakistan?
Were you guys able to find answer to the question:“Why do they hate us?” or are you still searching for an answer? ![]()

Re: Hafiz Saeed
"Lashkar continued to provide safe houses to al-Qaeda
operatives and affiliated individuals following this initial period of exfiltration, and a number of al-Qaeda operatives have been captured in LeT safe houses.According to AhmedRashid, most of the evidence regarding these arrests has been suppressed by the Pakistani government, and the Pakistani Army has exerted heavy pressure on the Pakistani media not to report on them. The most notable operative captured at an LeT safe house is Abu Zubayda. Recent reports suggest
Zubayda was more of a ‘jihadi fixer’ than a long-standing
member of al-Qaeda, though he worked directly with the group. In March 2002 he was captured at a Several LeT members were also captured during the raid. The central Punjab city has longbeen an LeT stronghold and it appears that Zubayda…"

Re: Hafiz Saeed
Hafiz should be sent to S. Arabia to pass his rest of life there.
Re: Hafiz Saeed
So because he wears a certain garb and a beard, he doesn't need to be fully investigated?
So because he wears a certain garb and a beard, he doesn't need to be fully investigated?
He is a jihadi/terrorist/maulvi/hafiz-e-Quran/charity organizer depending on who you ask.
The reality is that what he does is preach jihad while also doing charity work, but he is considered "loyal" to the state and does not support anti-Pakistan work.
But everyone knows that Jamaat-Dawa is same as Lashkar-e-Tayba. Sometimes some of his "followers" end up supporting "Al Qaeda" but they seem to disappear...
The other reality is that he is grown so public and open with his activities that UN has banned him and declared him as a terrorist.
We will not take action on him because his close ties to powerful people in the establishmen and he will expose all if we mess with him.
US will accept that as long as his people don't end up connected to another 9/11.
What will happen if that happens is open to question.
The guys like Ilyas Kashmiri, "Dr. Usman", "Maulana Fazlullah" etc. were all in similar position of Hafiz Sayeed not too long ago
Playing with fire and then disowning it is all the part of the game...
Re: Hafiz Saeed
So they stay in power, because they know all the trash on government and army officials like who is sleeping with who and who killed who, and so there are people who will protect these guys?
And he's a muslim teacher how...?

He is not "in power", but he is empowered by the military establishment and people like the Chaudhries of Gujrat and even Nawaz Sharif at one time. They can implicate the "farishtay" within the GHQ and agencies who were giving the "secret" assistance for the state's jihad campaigns overseas.
He gets his money from Saudi Arabia because he represents the Pakistani version of what is called "Wahhabi" or Salafi tradition. Most of the money goes for good work, but some ends up in the pocket and some ends up for "jihad", like the one we see daily nowadays.
If you pressure him too much, he will not go quietly and will implicate everyone from Zia to Musharraf in all the dealings.
What we are paying for in daily suicide attacks is years of investment in private armies to conduct our wars with India and its allies.
