Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan allrounder, has been reported for suspect action after the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. Hafeez will have to undergo the tests within the next 21 days as per the ICC regulations and can continue to bowl in international cricket until the results of the tests are announced.
Hafeez was part of the Pakistan side that recently thumped Australia, bowling 63 overs in the two-Test series, and went on to bowl a further 22 overs in the first Test against New Zealand. The match officials handed over the report to the Pakistan team manager, Moin Khan.
Hafeez has become the second Pakistan bowler in the recent months to have come under ICC’s scanner. The drive against suspect actions has hit the offspinners the most, with Saeed Ajmal, Sohag Gazi, Sachithra Senanayake and Prosper Utseya, all earning suspensions. Last week, Zimbabwe’s Malcolm Waller was pulled up after he took six wickets in the Khulna Test against Bangladesh.
I am Glad it is not Misbah Reported for Suspect Captaincy,
The news would be, Misbah's style of captaincy, that is winning the toss and batting first and then not enforcing follow-ons ( which takes away any ray of hope opposition may have) and making them chase 500+ in fourth innings in four sessions is some what disturbing and can bring bad taste for the test cricket.
It is high time we stop treating everything as a conspiracy. Hafeez DOES have a bend in elbow. Just how much the bend is will be determined in tests that will be conducted on him. It's NOT a conspiracy by ICC to prevent from winning the World Cup.
And now people will sarcastically comment on when ICC will ban Younis Khan, Misbah, Zulfiqar, Yasir, etc. Enough of the conspiracy theories! Just do what's right, and get on with the game. Stop blaming others if our own players are bending the rules (and elbows). As if batsmen around the world were shuddering at the thought of facing Hafeez and had to hatch a plan with the help of ICC to ban him!
Same thing goes for Ajmal. Granted, he was our premier bowler AND a major threat to all batsmen, but he was bowling with a 42 degree bend in the elbow, against the allowed 15. That's more than THREE TIMES over the legal limit. Just get our own house in order and stop blaming others.

Quite agree, however things are not that black and white all the time. I dont think it is a conspiracy but lets cast our mind back to 1992 tour of Pakistan team to England. The English team was all at sea against Waqar and Wasim due to the reverse swing. The result Pak team was called cheats and ball tamperers because no one else could do reverse swing. No English or Australian bowler could do reverse swing so it had to be ball tampering. Lo behold a year or so later Darren Gough of Enlgand started to do reverse swing and the same press and cricket establishment which was calling Pakistani bowlers ball tamperers were now praising this as an art and suddenly it became acceptable. Same is the case here. As soon as the English or Australian and now the other big daddy India start finding bowlers who can bowl doosra the "bend" will become acceptable. Till than it will be illegal, because it gives advantage to Pakistan and not the big three.
So yes it is not a conspiracy but maybe jealousy and hypocrisy.
^ why isn't there a provision for ALL to bowlers to get the 'inventions' in bowling checked out by experts. if it is NOT allowed then NO one should be allowed to duplicate it in future. that would be a fair way to introduce a new bowling style/type.
The ICC is doing the right thing now, at the right time, as Harbhajan is no more playing at the international level.
Imagine, after the retirement of Malinga & Mitchel Johnson, Pakistan produces a bowler with similar action. The crack down on such actions will began then!
