A1c hemoglobin = glycosylated hemoglobin. This is formed when glucose in blood reacts with hemoglobin. A1c is therefore is an indicator of blood glucose levels in the recent past. A1c should be below 7%… if its higher it indicates that there was too much glucose in the blood hence high production of glycosylated hemoglobin. The only way A1c can be lowered is by controlling daily glucose levels.
