Yeah definately... but Sagats fight style is the one that works best in a real fight.
Frankly Muai Thai boxing would beat the vast majority of styles in Karate, any day hands down... it's a much more devastating form of combat... which utilises a lot more strikes and blocks.
Mind you original styles of Okinawan karate involved a lot more close fighting but karate has evolved into a western money making gimmick wheras Thai boxing has maintaned it's brutal efficency in most countries.

Very well… come back after you’ve learned a bit or alternatively join my martial arts discussion group… i’m sure it still exists somewhere on GS albeit with a very small membership. 
Looks like these days real martial arts are dying out… damn imperialism.

Dude i have no interest in joining your martial arts group. The projectile was Haduken'd in a general direction. Didnt know you would start disecting it otherwise i would just run forward and taken the hit myself! Reference Street Fighter 3 Alpha etc!

Hehe okay no problem i'm not fammiliar with later editions of the game i still got my original and street fighter two and i never really took it any further. I just like some of the fight styles from the game.
Best characters back in my day were...
Sagat= Original villain and Muay thai fighter
Ryu and Ken=original heroes
Fie Long= The Bruce Lee based fighter
Dhalsim=The Flexible Yoga warior was awesome even if his art was fantasy.
Different versions of the game also included Bison a boxer who was later called Balrog becuase the Chief villain in the second series was also called general M Bison.
The film with Van dam was awfull.

Well thats awesome... Tae kwon do is a fairly modern style but it's effective and thats what counts however you need to be very flexible to perform it well. Kicking is great becuase it's a long range attack and in real life it works well...
but a boxer almost always beats a kickboxer as boxers have better all round training.

^ Aaaw mind you i was awfull at it too… took me ages to get used to it but then again i’d beat anyone that beat me on the computer in real life and i used to get into trouble for it…
