Casualties in a war dont necessarily mean that a country has won! If the Americans have lost 3000 odd soldiers in Afghanistan (by spending trillions of dollars), in reality they have control of some main cities, thats the reason why they are dying to negotiate an end to war. The war is in a stalemate with taleban still holding far more area as compared to the Americans although the Americans have superior technological weapons and they are fighting in the most backward of countries like Afghanistan and after 10 years of continuous war if they still have to negotiate an end, what does it tell you?

The hatred that these wars are generating for the Americans are far more, and they would have been more intense if the Americans tried to completely annihilate Iraq and Afghanistan. They would have created many more Iraq’s and Afghanistan in the world. If America is a super power now it does not matter many have come and gone in our history.

I agree with you. These are non-conventional wars, in which exterminating the last bit of resistance is extremely difficult. On the other hand, no country would win a conventional war (proper organized military) against America. Rommel is advocating for the latter, whereas I’m advocating for policy change and diplomacy.

My main contention was about how to “attack” America, and one of the reasons I advocate diplomacy is because I don’t think America can be beaten in a head-on military conflict. Again, by head-on I mean, for example, Pakistan vs America, not the Taliban vs America. If America bombed the hell out of Pakistan, and the last bit of Taliban-like resistance eventually drove them out, I would consider it a Pyrrhic victory because all of Pakistan’s infrastructure would be destroyed, and the country would be set back decades.
