Hadith
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas [radhiallaahu anhu] reports that
Rasulullah :saw: said,
‘A definitely successful person is he who is bestowed with the gift of Islam, has sufficient sustenance and is content with what he has.’ (Sahih Muslim)
Commentary
The golden message given by this Hadith is that Islam leads the way to
success in both the worlds, and contentment of the heart if the way to
success in this world. In actual fact, a poor content person is better
off compared to a rich man who is dissatisfied.
In fact, it would not be wrong if we said that the latter of the 2
is the poor one, because he is the one who is still looking and begging for more. That is why every person should make the following du’aa daily:
‘Allaahumma qanni’inee bimaa razaqtani wa baarik lee feehi’
(Trans: Oh Allah, Grant me content with whatever you bestow me with and grant me barakah (blessings) therein)
