Hadiqa Kiani is a singer-songwriter and the “Best Pop Female Singer” in Pakistan . Since her debut in 1995, she released five albums and singles in many languages and won numerous national and international awards, including the Tamgha-e-imtiaz, one of the most prestigious Government civil awards, for her services in music industry.
On November 8, 2010, Hadiqa Kiani was officially appointed as UNDP National Goodwill Ambassador for Early Recovery. On the occasion of her appointment, she said: “UNDP is helping communities affected by the floods rebuild their life and I am proud to add my personal commitment to these efforts”. Hadiqa has been working as an Advocate for Environment for UNDP Pakistan and sang UNDP Pakistan’s public service song (http://www.youtube.com/undppakistan) which was very well received by public.
Hadiqa is very keen on working for the well-being of communities and poor of Pakistan . During 2005 earthquake, Hadiqa travelled to various affected areas and relief camps to provide essential relief items to the victims. In 2010, she travelled to flood-affected areas in different provinces of Pakistan to provide essential relief items to the affectees and mobilized resources through her public appearances, and appeals for donations in schools, colleges and universities and telethon appearances.
