I am doing a research paper on globalization of Bollywood movies, and I just read a 11 page research paper, of which 3 and half were dedicated to Dil Walay Dulhaniya Lejaynge. The rest was about Monsoon Wedding and how contrasted with DDLG.
Now who would have thunk that DDLG was such a complicated movie? But then again, these academics and researchers have to earn their pay and make a mountain out of a mole.
Re: Had no idea there was so much symbolism in Bollywood movies.
^ barring commercial productions, I've found Indian parallel cinema (arthouse) to be somewhat intellectually stimulating. I'm an ardent fan of Gulzar, Ray, and Benegal.
DDLJ though? seriously? wouldn't warrant a academic etymology in my opinion, although it's a half-decent commercial movie.

Apparently the last scene where she runs towards the train and grabs SRK's hand has a deeper meaning. Also, the scene where they get drunk and she wakes up wearing his shirt but SRK says that "nothing happened" is a defining moment in the NRI connection to their heritage.
