Had enough of this weight :(

Ok im determined to loose weight but its like taking forever!

Please recommend what to eat on a typical day to try and get rid of this excess weight…i would be exercising 3-4 days a week (1hr each)-cardiovascular: Treadmill/crosstrainer..

people have said to me in the past, oh just eat salad and u will loose weight…but we have gotta be realistic…i dont get full from salads…I work…so usually end up with a sandwich and then dinner in the evening…which is usually normal salan and roti…probs abt 1 1/2 roti…

What do people suggest is a good typical menu for the day??

What else can I do to speed up the process of loosing weight?

Drink green tea? lemon in hot water?

i want to loose about 2 stones before next year!

Re: Had enough of this weight :(

I lost 3 stones in about five months, simply going to boxing classes (2 days a week) and marital arts class on the weekend and the remaining days I ran on the treadmill for about 20/ 25 minutes.

For my diet rather than giving up the things I liked I reduced everything by half so if I was eating roti it would only be one, I ate cereal in the morning but reduced my bowl size. Rather than eating a greasy bruger I switched to grilled fish or chicken when I was out. Also the most important thing I felt contributed to my weightloss is giving up on soft drinks.

Start by reducing whatever you eat normalcy to 3/4th or 1/2. Have this routine for a week. Completely stop sweet stuff. If you need to have some sugar like I do , just take 1 tsp of sugar is morning in your tea and your day will go smoothly & it's wont affect your diet also.

Once you get in a routine , this is what you can do !

breakfast - boiled egg or fried egg or omelette done in a few drops of oil on a non stick pan. you can 1 or 2 toast of bran bread too.

Now at 10 or 11 am have a fruit like apple or any other fruit. don't starve yourself

lunch - have chicken tikka with a small roti or just have a nicely grilled chicken breast fillet or a nice channa chat or you can even have grilled chicken or any other meat burger too.

dinner - whatever is cooked at your home , have it but in small quantity. Try to have some fruits too.

before going to sleep you can a glass of skimmed or fat free milk. Now this is against the normal theory of not having anything after 7 or 8. But I believe it give you nutrition & strength plus you don't go to sleep hungry. When I go to sleep hungry I wake up with a head ache.

I followed above schedule for 4 months and lost 30 kgs

my diet:
1 glass water
2 slice of bread in breakfast with little jam (i dont like sweetness of jam)

than in lunch maybe fruits or salad or little bit of roti with salan

one small cup coffee/tea

6pm dinner: little roti or rice or watever is cooked
10 pm 1/2 cup tea

no exercise as dont get time but do all the house work and run around alot as toddler daughter and use stairs alot too about 10-15 times a day

still i am not able to loose weight ...........i am 10 kg overweight!!!

wow…30 kgs…good work girlie :k:

Are you sure you are not starving yourself?sometimes when you starve it just works in the opposite way...eat healthy...at night have green tea instead...drinks lots of water and include at least a 20 min work out in your routine (5 times a week)....maybe in the morning after fajr when kids are sleeping....do a brisk walk for 20 min or so....alongside with controlling diet....work out is needed too if you want to lose weight!

You've got the exercise down: good job. Now fix the times at which you have food.

  • Heavy breakfast early in the morning no later than 7 am.
  • Medium lunch no later than 1 pm
  • Light (and i mean light) dinner no later than 7:30 pm

No food atleast 3 hours before you go to bed. Liquids is okay.

If you can, eat a bowl of broccoli and celery everday. It will help because:

  • Will prevent you from munching on unnecessary sugars and junk food.
  • It's all fiber. It will scrub up your tummy linings good getting rid of poo thats built up and stuck to the intestinal walls.
  • It will make you feel healthier and fresher, will reduce bloating and excessive weight due to the junk in your tummy.

Also try to eat right after a workout. When your body is still warm and chugging it will digest your food better.

All of the above is tried and tested.

Do this earnestly for a month. Then come back to this thread and thank me.

:hmmm: its easy except the first part…before 7 am :bummer:

Re: Had enough of this weight :(

It sounds like you have hit a plateau, you may need to change you exercise routine. Doing Cardio alone won't help you lose the weight, you need to add weights to your workout. This will increase your metabolism and you will burn more calories. :)

Eat weetabix and fruits and vegetables for a month. dont eat chips kebabs donners :yummy:.. Fill your self with roti not salan.

Chew your food properly and eat slowly. eat and drink while sitting. and alwayss drink a glass or two of water before the meal not after or with each bite and eat dinner about two hours before you go to bed

this should do the trick

Re: Had enough of this weight :frowning:

Also do what i do never eat your full but leave a third of your stomach free.

And to further reduce weight i suggest you drink more and do more exercise especially running or walking.

And if possible try to walk or run on dirt this helps lose more calories.

All are tried and tested by me :salute:

I agree with this what you're doing is slowing your metabolism down as your body thinks I'm not getting anymore food so I have to burn this as slow as possible. Where as if you eat smaller portions and move around you'll see it come off.

  1. eat breakfast within an hour and a half of waking up. Try and include all parts of the food group e.g. a bowl of oatmeal topped with berries, yoghurt and almonds or a veggie omelette with whole grain toast and an apple.

  2. have a snack between breakfast and lunch, and between lunch and dinner. Any of the following options are good: almonds, carrot sticks, apple, banana, watermelon slices, single slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter.

  3. limit your carbs, don't eliminate them but try and eat less i.e instead of eating 1 1/2 roti with salan eat 1/2 to 1 instead with the same amount.

  4. switch to whole grains i.e brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat roti or nan.

  5. dinner should be your lightest meal and should be eaten at least 2 hrs before going to bed if not more.

  6. green tea is known to help with weight loss, just dont add sugar to it.

  7. at lunch time i find if i drink soup it helps fill me up so i eat a smaller amount of my main meal, but my soup is also homemade and therefore nutritious with low amounts of sodium and plenty of veggies and protein.
