Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

So after switching phone with my wife, the first thing I did was root the android - primarily since I wanted to run a VNC server on it.

Any other recommendations/suggestions for a rooted android phone?

Re: Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

What is a good way to root your android? I think you need different programs to run a root if it were in gingerbread compared to honeycomb, right?

One good thing about jailbreaking an iOS device is that you can always go back if it didn't work out for you. Rooting always has the risk of bricking your device.

What phones do you have? Now you guys are on the right track.
LC, tell me you have one of the Galaxy phones! I"m starting a club :)

Re: Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

This club of yours…TB, do you accept members who really really like the Galaxy phones, as in seem to like it even better than their iPhones, so they could at least enjoy the aura and get a treat? :frowning: They’re willing to pay for membership even :naak:.

Re: Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

niksik you are such a nerd :D (its good to see at least some women who don't treat tech stuff as beyond/beneath them)

Re: Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

Beyond/beneath them? To have not loved a gadget is to have not loved at all.
DO you know how much pleasure there is in using a gadget that delivers functionality with precision? I like to keep my options open when looking for technology that serves my needs.

I have become very restless since I met S3, albeit online.

Re: Hacks & Apps for Rooted Android

Tofi - dude, I've always been an Android enthusiast at heart... still very satisfied with my Android tablet and if I had the need to switch my iPhone 3GS to something else, I would've definitely switched to an Android based phone. Despite jailbreaking the iPhone, it still didn't meet my needs.

My wife got a very good deal on the Sony Xperia last year so that's what she was using until I'd heard enough of her nagging and I gave her my iPhone. So I'm using the Xperia 10 which is a pretty good phone - and I'll probably wait until mid-2013 to get a new phone - which may very well be a Galaxy.

Before TLK comes in here and starts dissing the Android citing my wife's example (everyone knows he will :D) let me just say that yes she wanted an iPhone but now she isn't happy with that either. Lesson: the technology is important, but end-user skill, motivation and attitude towards technology are just as important. She just doesn't get how I'm NOT having any problems with her old phone.

^^ :D

LC, tell me how the iPhone didn't meet your needs and I'll tell you why my iPhone isn't meeting mine, and I have a 4S, Siri and all.

Both of my phones are Galaxy :yahoo:

Android > Apple . . . Just sayin’
