Re: Hacking a FB Account!

Kaspersky is certainly one of the best, but i would recommend ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Anti virus for home users. Do not install more than one anti virus, ever, dont even think about it, this is will not add more security, it will break your system.

P.S: I dont work for ESET :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

Someone else mentioned ESET Smart too,how does it work ? Covers only device for one year? I might go for ESET once Kaspersky expires.
Also, it means you do work for them? :p

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

^ ESET Smart security is an Anti Virus + Firewall, it has HIPS built in, the latest version also got an Anti Theft protection module. I think they have multiple system license just like kaspersky. I have corporate license from Sophos from my company, am happy with that :)

Nope, i dont work for ESET, but i do recommend them to all my friends and relatives.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

If anyone is paranoid about losing control of their accounts, gmail or facebook etc, try and find setting for "2 factor authentication".
For my Facebook account I have it turned on, so whenever I access FB on a new machine it sends me a code to my phone without which I can't get in. Same thing with all my gmail and dropbox etc.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

^Ohhh...that is a good one! Thanks for the tip!

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

ESET smart next time for sure. :k:

Done it. :k:

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

On my recent trip to Pakistan I was trying to check my e-mail (Google Mail) while I was transiting at Dubai airport. Didn't work through my phone's e-mail app. So I opened the browser and tried to access the e-mails from there. And that's where I got a message saying something along the lines of "Somebody tried to access your account from the United Arab Emirates. If this was you, please answer the following security questions...." Once I did that, everything was fine. But I was quite astonished that they had lock the e-mail account altogether when someone from a different country tries to access it.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

^ This is called security. :k:

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

When you are logged into Gmail all the way at the bottom it give you a link (Details) where you can go and find out all the different IPs that you have signed on with. It also gives you the ability to log off any of those sessions.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

On top of everything Rayan said, there are a couple of other ways:
*** Man-in-the-middle:**
Where somebody can get all the information you are posting, they keep a copy and then pass-on that information (fully or modified) onto the service which it was intended for

*** Physical access:**
a. If I steal your computer I can get to your services
b. if i can get cookies/tokens off your computer I will have access to your services

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

:k:

how you came to know that someone tried to hack your FB?

I sometimes run ESET online scan. Use Avast!!

How can it be done??

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

Go to this link:

… and put a check in the box next to “Require me to enter a security code…”
Put in your phone number where you want to receive the security code and hit save.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

yea, i forgot about MITM, but for MITM the hacker have to get into your network first (through your weak wifi password or the hacker can be someone inside your home/company)

Weak wireless passwords/encryption are one of the easiest way to get into any network, so always use good random password with WPA2 encryption And Disable WPS, even the biggest, strongest password cant help you if you use weak encryption like WEP or Additional services like WPS. WEP is as good as covering it with a cloth (it takes 5-10 mins to break any WEP key, even school kids can do that), and WPS is already cracked (it takes 6-8 hours to crack any Wireless with WPS enabled, WEP, WPA or WPA2, it doesnt matter).

For WPA/WPA2 (with no WPS) to be cracked, the password should be common dictionary word or common phrase that a hacker can easily guess or run a password list to crack it. Always protect your Wireless Access Points with good password and good encryption.

Recommended setting: WPA2 - AES with 20+ character random password without WPS

P.S: Hiding SSD and MAC filtering will also add more layers to your security, but its easy to get around those.

Re: Hacking a FB Account!

Security is as strong as the weakest link. Wireless AP, "kundi", cleaning-crew access, etc etc. Or you can just call people and as them the password, sometimes :)
