Haaj refers to plural of Pilgrim in Arabic.
What is with this terminology ‘Alhaaj’ used in Pakistan for those who performed Haj for more than once.
Do you think this prefix/ title is necessary to be shown by such person? Why its disclosed like a qualification (M.A., PhD, etc)?
Is it also used in Arab countries?

Re: Haaj Alhaaj
those who want to add this title to their names usually want their reward for Hajj from 'awaam and NOT from Allah. those are the ones who go for Hajj empty handed and come back empty handed.
Allah listens to their innate desired to be called Haajii/alHaaj and they reap their rewards from public with no share in the hereafter.
Re: Haaj Alhaaj
But is it sub-continent specific phenomenon or they got it from Arabs or Persians?

Re: Haaj Alhaaj
as far as i’ve seen arabs…they do NOT use this title…i’m pretty sure it’s south east Asian phenomenon…subcontinent, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.
Re: Haaj Alhaaj
In my childhood I used to live in Nigeria, I am pretty sure the people over there used to use the title as well (some of them).
