Infidelity need not count as strong provocation but violence by partner will be cause for leniency
Men who kill their wives or partners in a jealous rage after discovering they have been unfaithful will receive tougher sentences under new guidelines announced yesterday. In contrast, women who kill their violent husbands or lovers will be treated more leniently, according to sentencing guidance drafted by the lord chief justice, Lord Phillips http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1653107,00.html
I posted this here because a fair number of Pak Men indulge in this kind of behaviour in the UK
^ first of all i was just poking fun at lard phillips screwdriver
but now that you have asked, i think the law needs to be more specific, what exactly is considered violence, and when do you kill that the court will look at it leniently.
I can see if someone kills a spouse in self defense while being attacked, but if the violence has taken place and the perp is asleep and then killed by the victim, that is pre-meditated murder in my book and should nto have any leniency attached to it. The victim had a choice to call the cops, leave the place, whatever but did nto do that instead 'chose' to kill someone.
coming back to what is considered violence...really whate level of violence would be considered justifiable for someone killing the attacker?
oh and yeah, in terms of infidelity, i agree that if someone kills their spouse because they were cheating that should be tougher. However I also think that in case of divorce due to infidelity the cheating party should get zilch from the joint assets of the couple.
