H.I.V test before marriage...

I am in Kerala, the Southern most state of India on a professional tour.I came across an interesting news today .It’s like suggesting H.I.V cleanchit before marriage.

How do you people view it?

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 10 (IANS) The Kerala Women’s Commission (KWC) has asked the state government to pass resolutions and, if necessary, a law to ensure that all those who get married undergo an HIV test.
‘This is an issue that is affecting the entire humanity and hence adequate measures have to be taken to safeguard all,’ KWC chairperson Justice (retd) D. Sreedevi said.
The commission made the request in the wake of several cases where men got married in spite of knowing that they were HIV positive.
KWC submitted an annual report with the recommendations to the state government last week. The panel also asked the government to support the children of the HIV affected.
According to the Kerala State Aids Control Society (KSACS), a total of 55,167 people have been infected by HIV/AIDS in the state.
The HIV prevalence rate in the general population is 0.26 percent, which is less than the national average of 0.34 percent.
The KWC expects that with the budget session of the Kerala assembly scheduled for the first week of next month, their demand will be considered by the government.

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

It's a practical idea, I like it.

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

definitely, it's necessary. even if the person says that they weren't sexually active, it would be important for the spouse to know it just to be safe

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

I dont mind that - hope the money invested in condoms pays off :)

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

Just not HIV. All STDs.

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

It wasn't even a concern when I was getting married. Anyhow, I wouldn't mind doing the test as long as it doesn't cost me anything.

Re: H.I.V test before marriage...

when you live in a country with the highest prevalence of the disease such as south africa, nigeria or india then it's absolutely necessary to do the test, in order to hinder the spread of HIV/AIDS, before you engage in intimate contact with someone, which means anything that might transmit HIV.
