Enjoy your vacation and come back to us well-rested!
My gymming today: an hour on the elliptical machine, and a half hour of rowing. I wanted to stay low-impact as I have a running race tomorrow that I'm participating in...
Soooo went to the doc yesterday...she said i cant run/do cardio for at least a week, and when i get back to working out again i have to start with once a week...twice the next week...my poor muscles aroundd my knees are super mad (stressed) :(
but i have been doing my strength workout at home :D with 3lbs weights -- my brothers laugh at me (more at the weights i think) but hey its a start...i ll get 5lbs weight this weekend.
I went to the gym last Thursday morning, and walked for about an hour in the night. It sucks that I skipped gym on Saturday, was rather goofing around on Wii Fit. I have no desire to go the gym this week.
I resolved to post here regularly but fell off the wagon last week--I went to florida for a couple of days for some r&r, and when I got back I only worked out one day (Wednesday.)
I got back into my groove yesterday in a harsh way. I ran a 15K race, which was OK until the last two miles, when I started having some sharp pain on the side of my knee and upper thigh. So I think I may have an injury that I need to take it easy on. I'm heading to the gym right now but am going to just work on upper body strength and then see how I feel on the elliptical--my legs are still pretty sore aside from the injury so I want to just ease into it...
Rabia, distance running is my 'thing' 'cause I've got great endurance. The problem is I'm pretty slow---my 15K pace was 9:45 per mile. In other words, pretty darn slow. I find someone who can run 3-4 miles at a 7-minute pace far more impressive!!! :)
I ended up doing an hour on the elliptical yesterday then calling it quits. Tonight I'm planning an 45-60 minutes of rowing followed by arms and abs strength training... I think my legs need a rest.
^ cool...i guess the "grass is always greener on the other side"...i would love to run as much as u...but cant...not yet at least.
i haven't gone back to the gym since sunday, Dr. told me to take it easy, took a whole week off, started this week but she said to at first run once a week and thn move to twice...3 :( so i just have to wait...i want to go running so bad :(
anyways i have a question...
u knw how they say for strength workout...give ur muscle few days and thn work out the same muscles again. what if u muscle aren't sore or tired...
i have been using 5 Lbs weights to do my arm workout...but i dont knw if it is 'bad' to do it everyday... my arms are fine and i m not in pain?
Rabia, increase your weight a little bit. May be 7lbs? working out ur arms everyday wont help!. Its useless. work them harder twice a week ( bi's and tri's ). And, soreness is not an indication of whether the workout u are doing is effective.. after some time your body gets used to that exercise and stops being sore.
Note that when you perform chest or back exercises, you're using ur arms anyway, so there is no point overtraining your arms.

i went spinning on wednesday morning, and tried yogalates on thursday. friday i was ridiculously sore. this weekend will probably be a bust as i've come down with strep throat. crap! but i think if i'm up for it, i'll at least aim for a long walk in the 'hood.
rabia, what helps me with my upper ams and shoulders is doing many reps with 8lb weights.
ooo.. this thread is awesome.. I had surgery so cudnt train for 2.5 mnths.. my doc jst gave me the OK to get back into my fitness regimen..
so here it is to gettin back into shape!!!
I did 30 mins on the elliptical, 30 mins weight training and core exercises.. I feel gooooddd!
