gym woes

i havent done weights in years, four years or so, and i’ve recently started, its been two days. i guess i got a little gym happy and overdid it.

i know a little stiffness is usual, but i cant straighten one arm at all, even when i push it with my other hand it doesnt straighten all the way. is this normal? :-s

i hope i dont get frozen shoulder or something :-s

O Bhai U Supposed To Stretch B4 And After Weight Lift...

Khair When U Do It After A Long Time Itz A Killer.

Re: gym woes

It sounds like you have pulled a muscle. Does it hurt a lot? I did that a few months ago, totally over did it at the gym. SD is right, you MUST stretch every single day, even when you aren't going to the gym. It really helps your muscles and can protect you from hurting yourself.

Re: gym woes

ravage, you can ask any guppan to sit on your arm to straighten it out...if that does not help...nothing will. :)

Re: gym woes

:hehe: kuch zyada hi stretch na ho jaye…

Re: gym woes

shweetdreams im not sure i know how to stretch, if there is a specific procedre for it. if it is what the name implies, then i did jog around to warm up and did a few bowling actions and such. never used to be a problem before, and my routine was much more strenuous than this.

mehnaz, i might've, thats what im worried about. it hurts quite a bit when i put force on it and unless i force it straight against a solid object like a wall it doesnt straighten :( . im not around people these days, warna i'd have had someone look at it.

kaleem aisi neem hakeemi ka kia faida... guppan bhi dhoond ke lao

Re: gym woes

How long has it been like that? Give it a few days, it should heal itself ... assuming it is a pulled muscle problem.

Re: gym woes

oh okay if it will fix itself. i was afraid it might be some stupid permanent thing like a frozen shoulder or something.

it was bad since yesterday, i figured its the stiffness and i understand you're supposed to keep at it, so i went today too, and its much worse since

Re: gym woes

errrrrr...dont even stress that part of the body.. keep it warm with pads and heat bandages.. it slowly goes away.. once it feels ok, give it a good workout again..

(each time i come back to gym, it happens)

Re: gym woes

hey, thanks. i was doing the exact opposite, ie making it stress continuously to fix it

Re: gym woes

Just keep massaging it and don’t do anything to it other than some stretching for the next few days (meaning don’t lift any weights or do any exercises that will affect your arm). It should heal itself in a few days. Roll your shoulders back and forth … tilt your head towards your shoulder and then towards your armpit … hold in each position for a minute or so. A lot of the muscles in the body are connected, so for example you can be stretching your gluts and it will help your back out. So just do whatever stretches you can. :flower1:

Re: gym woes

ok raise your arms over your head and then grab left arm (a bit above where the elbow starts) with the right hand so that left hand kinda curves over your head and then gently pull with right hand ...u will feel the stretch....hold for abt 10-15 seconds and repeat for right hand.

u can also grasp both hands behind the head and pull so u feel a stretch in shoulder....
or behind your waist and pull them upwards and away from you.....again the point is to stretccccccccccccccccchhhhhhhh the muscles.....just be gentle...

Re: gym woes

i went to gym last week after 8 months of being away.. (job was giving a nice workout) so ran for warmup, and hear rate was shooting off the scale...(it used to remain in 160's in my case on 7mph) strike 1..

started off with triceps (machine).. after good warmup, went to lower ab machine.. came back to free weights (triceps) went back to lower abs.... i think total workout time(excluding break) was 50 minutes.. (1 minute intervals for each set)

i couldnt BREATH heavy the next day...stomach and lower abs were KILLING me..couldnt walk straight, couldnt laugh hard.. even giggling was hurting it... went away after 2 days.. u just need to sleep a lot and keep that portion warm

Re: gym woes

rotator cuff .. all gyms should have a three month requirement of strengthening that part of the body first before people are allowed to lift weights.

Re: gym woes

Since its been a long while since you went last, it will hurt for a while. Like they say, no pain, no gain. give it a couple a days, an it should go away itself hopefully.

Re: gym woes

Take some ibuprofen. Will fix it within 12 hours.
