gym new starter - help on schedule

So i will be joining the gym from next week. I can only afford to go once a week for the first month.

My plan is to go for 40mins every saturday morning.

I am 5’1 tall and weight 47kgs. I do not want to loose weight but want to tone up my wobbly stomach and thighs.

Any recommendations on how to start my work out? What to do during my first 4 sessions?

Thanks

Cardio will help you lose fat (high intensity) or maintain your weight. If you want to tone and tighten, you need to add weights and other exerices to the cardio workouts. The key is to build muscle.

There’s another thread with some workout routines - but given you’re a beginner, I would suggest you work with someone (a gym partner or trainer) who can assess what type of workout routine would suit you best.

Light weights (3-5 lbs), core/ab exercises such as leg lifts, crunches, or even squats, lunges, etc. would be a good place to start.

^ Great advice.

Was reading Clarke Howard. He gives suggestions on how to not waste money and get same outcomes. Suggests don't sign long term contracts. These gyms sell ur contracts to financial institutions. Who pay them cents on the dollar. Suggests join gyms that don't hook u up for long contracts. Just pay month to month.

In former they have no incentive to have u come back. In latter they need to have u back.

Of course this was from a book. Folks such as above r seasoned gym people. They may have other opinion.

Do visit the link above. One of the best u will see. Good luck.
