Hopefully it should generate revenue which should finally get the balochis happy
Re: Gwadar port opens today
That'll take time. Experts are saying 8-10 years before a port kicks off properly.

Ships rounded up for Gwadar port opening
KARACHI: Although the government is all set for the ceremonial opening of the Gwadar port on Tuesday, authorities have failed to attract shippers or port users so far.
For the purpose of inauguration alone, the authorities have managed berthing of a few ships at the new port for a while. For this purpose, the port authorities have requested the owner of MV Yazdan to take their vessel to Gwadar, informed sources revealed to The News.
Yazdan was anchored at the Karachi Shipyard for more than a month for repairs, and renewal of certificates. Now, this ship has been moved to Gwadar with several containers (some empty and some filled with goods) from Karachi port for offloading at Gwadar port, sources said.
Authorities also managed docking of MV Sibbi of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) for the port’s opening ceremony. Practically, not a single importer has booked his cargo for the Gwadar port, sources said. No exporter or port user has expressed interest in the usage of the port, they said.
For the inauguration ceremony, authorities have managed the berthing of three ships, sources said. Though the circles associated with the shipping in the country did not deny the importance of Gwadar in the future, they said that a minimum 6-8 years were required for a port to develop into a busy port of call. It takes time, they said. Tuesday’s is not more than a political show, they maintained.

This is what I said. Hopefully when Iran gets it, ships will opt for Gwadar instead of an Iranian port.

this port should grow alot faster as its a major port serving alot of other land locked countrys and has a big backing by china, also pakistan gov. is backing it to the core.
Re: Gwadar port opens today
Gwadar is strategically located and is very vital to the economy of Pakistan. If operated in a sensible manner, it can bring lot of happiness and jobs to the people of the land who have suffered a lot. Government should leave no stone un-turned. We can't make Gwadar Dubai right away but we can work towards making it something that'll help the poor people in the short run while nurturing the dream in the background.

Re: Gwadar port opens today
I never gave much thought to the political implications of this project, but I gotta hand it to the Chinese - "string of pearls" project - that's incredibly ingenious. I have to say, I wonder why our American DOD didn't figure this out earlier. Meanwhile, we're wasting our energies in Iraq and Afghanistan, and here these guys are taking control of the region's oil supplies.
Incredible.
It makes me wonder who is funding the Balochis who want to interfere in the Gwadar project and who were involved in the death of the Chinese people involved in the project.
Re: Gwadar port opens today
Gwadur is connected to Pakistan’s major port city Karachi by the new 653 Kilometer Makran Coastal Highway (N10). This highway’s construction was inaugurated by President Musharraf in August 2001, and it was completed in 2005.
Here is a thread I posted in Image Gallery with pictures of the Makran Coastal Highway.

Silly Bill, you are a trouble maker. You are deliberately posting false news. I believe what Iconoclast stated earlier. ‘There are NO new roads being built in Pakitsan’. Now please stop spreading pro Musharaf lies
