Just b/c its legal does not mean everyone will start drinking. People who drink will drink (I live the US & alcohol is legal here & I don't drink, but that is my choice). And what is wrong with France or the US? Every year how many Pakistanis died trying to reach these "Akhlaaki Tanzli Ka Shikar countries" (whatever that means)?

O bhi, Qurani clearly stops us from drinking and dealing in alcohol. We do nt need alcoholic money n alocoholic tax... Madar-Pidar Azadi is not allowed in Pakistan. There is a limit to everything. We can not declair evil things like Sharab e.t.c , legal. One day ,someone will ask for gay rights. Then People will ask to legalize prostituation... There is clear answer to alcohol..... "NO"

Regulate yourself & not others...Quran says refrain from any kind of "nasha" & not just alcohol. That includes things likes tobacco products, caffeine, soft drinks, etc. Should they also be outlawed?

Needless to say if the people are gonna drink it anyways then regulate it with laws instead of keeping a closed eye at the issue. If you regulate it then you control what and how much people drink and in process making “tons” of money which can be used for better purpose which otherwise goes in the hands of mafia who use it for malicious purposes.

Alcohol in India is legal for anyone above drinking age and i am sure there are not more alcohol related cases in India than Pakistan. With ban on alcohol pakistan already has a very high number of drug addicts which is even worse.

Like India, i think Pakistan should make it a provincial issue and let provinces decide who wants to ban it and who wants to legalize it.

“More needs to be done to protect populations from the negative health consequences of alcohol consumption,” Oleg Chestnov of the WHO’s Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health unit said in a statement launching a massive report on global alcohol consumption and its impact on public health.

Have you seen the accident rates in Pakistan? Can you imagine adding widespread alcohol use in the mix? Phir I'm wear a helmet, neck brace, etc for car rides if alcohol is legalized in Pakistan.

Do you think banning alcohol eliminates problem of DWI? Of course not. It just pushes the problem underground, but if it was legal you can regulate and tax it.

Even in India many people die of toxic liquor which is made illegally. Strong laws are required to stop that practice.

But my point was entirely different, i heard there are no alcohol related laws like limit for driving etc in Pakistan as the govt considers it to be a banned object. In US they drink alcohol like water yet the laws make people to not drink and drive. Anytime you see people going out for party there is usually a designated driver who doesnt drink or people take taxis.
I think if people dont have to hide and drink then laws can better protect citizens by making laws. Regulating it can make it lot safer for everyone.

But since alcohol is more of a religious issue than social issue in Pakistan i get that the point that it is not easy to just “un ban” it. Irony is the founders of Pakistan didnt think it was too bad for the masses.

Do you think after regularization of alcohol, we can stop the consequences referred by WHO? Easy to access products are normally misused in our part of the world. Be it telephone, internet. Bhang is not banned, but still you can see so many junkies at almost all mazars of the country (biggest centres being Multan and Sehwan).
