Re: ...Guys & Housework...
When mom/mrs. cook food and it's ready, I go get it myself and bring it to wherever I am going to eat it. When I am done, I put my pans in the kitchen sink.
You eat in pans?
Wow, what an appetite. Masha'Allah.

Re: ...Guys & Housework...
This question pertains to the dudes of gupshup, but non-dudes, feel free to answer and let us know what your brother/fathers/husbands do to help you around in the house.
Question: When it comes to making things easier for the ladies, what do the males do to help? I'll give you a couple of examples in my answer.
Answer: When mom/mrs. cook food and it's ready, I go get it myself and bring it to wherever I am going to eat it. When I am done, I put my pans in the kitchen sink. I do this even when I am at anyone's house. I take the trash out, I vacuume, wipe the bathroom sink after I wash my hands/face, when I change clothes, I hang them in the closet instead of throwing them on the bed. There are a few other minor things that I do help around but I can't recall at the moment.
What do you do, if you are a male, or what do the males of your house do if you are a female?
I give her a list of to dos for the day, but also give her the flexibility to plan other things she can do to keep the place in tip top shape.
check off food items ,from the weekly menu she makes, that I would like to eat (main course only) to make her life easy an also give her the freedom to plan soups starters and apetizers as she wishes.
I leave my clothes on the floor so its easy access for her to wash and iron and hang back in my closet. an I alternate my shoes so she can polish them daily.
I also try to create more work for her, so she can earn sawab by serving her majaazi khuda...i.e. me.
Have you seen such a considerate husband?
Re: ...Guys & Housework...
my younger brother tariq is a slob, i pay a maid to clean up his apt for him because once i paid him a surprise visit and was horrified. old trash was in the apt, the sink was full of nasty facial hair where he shaved, clothes took over the whole floor i couldn't see it...ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
(my brother lives in a diff city or else i'd clean up) anyhow my youngest brother luckily is pretty clean. he likes his room to be neat and tidy. if i'm vacuuming he'll offer to take over. i'm afraid of heights so he goes and cleans my window for me and what not. (i have cathedral ceilings in my home) so it helps me out a lot. he is a lot like me in the way that we like to take care of our belongings. however we both love to cook and hate doing dishes. my mom gets so annoyed with us. at other ppl's homes i dn't mind doing dishes but my house i detest it.
i also refuse to take out the trash, i think that's a man's job. just as i think it's a man's job to wash my car, check the oil, and replace our a/c filters.

lucky for my brother my old roommate's parents own a motel nearby and so they send one of their cleaning ladies by weekly. at the same time motel and hotel cleaning ladies seem some crazy stuff as it is so my brothers place is really nothing. lol or so they tell me.

Re: ...Guys & Housework...
so, Desi ignorant guys in pakistan dont belive in equal rights for women WHICH leads to women doing all the housework.
while i'm in favor of guys helping out as much as they can, i do not believe women doing housework in pakistan can be held against guys. Men and women have different responsibilities. Men are suppose to work and provide for their family while women take care of the house. The situation in the west is a bit different. If the woman and the man both have jobs then it is only just for them to divide the household chores equally among themselves. If however, the husband is out working and is also expected to share equal load for housework, then that is not fair and will lead to problems. Same rule applies to women who are working a full time job and then are expected to do all the household work because in our culture they are the ones taught and expected to do that stuff.
