Fair enough. All of these are a matter of perspective.

But why is conforming to those socially accepted yardsticks, while still retaining the essence of one’s individuality, so wrong or objectionable? It’s not a matter of being accepted by or pleasing the masses, but why go out of your way to incite the contempt of the masses?

Inciting contempt of the masses? That is conviction of an uncommitted crime. If that were the case, our exiles wouldn’t always result in protests from the very people we are convicted of offending. Conforming while still retaining your individuality is an option some don’t have. The words of wisdom in Jaanwar’s profile picture sum it up perfectly.

But then again, it isn’t as black and white as my post suggests. If you think you are a victim, maybe you are not looking for the reasons. You know how they say in Punjabi “Apni manji thallay daang phero”
