my roommate’s friend just came back from india and his mom had sent with him some sweet roti type guRR k parathay type roti that she had made…

i have never had that stuff before , i wonder if its made in pakistan, but danggggggggg it was DELICIOUS :yummy:

its supposed to a typically indian mahrashtrian [sp?] thing i guess…i forgot its name…

but it was made with baisan and had a stuffing of gannay ka gurr [sugarcane jaggery]…sounds good already huh :yummy: she made it in desi ghee with some meway on top…

it tasted really really good… :yummy:

yeah ive had stuff like that before... but instead of sugarcane rus... we put sugar in it instead :)

kewl…yaar i have had meethi roti b4…but this was totally different..it was made with baisan aik to..and the gurr made the taste different…it tasted just awesome :yummy:

Yes.. it is known as ** Puran/purnachi poli**. It is basically a wheat chapatti, stuffed with a paste of jaggery and chana daal.

It is made during holi mostly. It is accompanied with a curry by the name of ** Aamti**. It is a really hot kinda curry.

baisan ki roti is so hard to control :bummer:

we made mehde (cant spell sorry) ki roti a few weeks back… it was torture..

sadzzz i never made baisan kee roti myself but my cousin used to make it when she was sick..its supposed to have some medicinal effect for some medical condition...dont remember now what it was :D hehe
did u put ghee in it when goondhing the aata for baisan kee roti?

hmm na i think we put butter… or was it oil..

theres people in my house who chuck a fit if ghee is used :hoonh:

I have had gurr kay parathay in pakistan but not with raisins or anything. Its just wholwheat flour paratha with gurr in it (now i dunno how it gets in the paratha :konfused: ). BUt yeah we didnt eat it with any salan it was just paratha with i think chai maybe. Not sure.

You should try the other variation to the sweet Poli - this one has a desicated cocanut-jaggery stuffing -

i agree that besan ki roti is really difficult to control. you have to put so much of normal ata in it in order for it to stick together.
