A man once said to the Prophet Muhammad :saw: “Wealthy people have all the rewards; they pray as we pray; they fast as we fast; and they (also) have surplus wealth which they give in charity. But we have no wealth that we may give in charity (to gain reward from God).”
The Prophet :saw: replied: “Should I teach you phrases by which you may acquire the rank of those who excel you (in wealth)?..(Say ‘God is Most Great,’ ‘Praise be to God’ and ‘Glory be to God’ after each prayer)…and end by saying, ‘There is no god but God alone, there is no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, to Him praise is due, and He has power over everything.’ (The person who does this) will be forgiven his sins, even if they are like the foam of the sea.”
I'll just like to point out that if someone requires any clarification or has questions or comments about this hadith , please feel free to post them here. If you want a debate on the whole idea behind collection or authenticity of ahadeeth, please open a separate thread.
Who cares about what others say…The words of the Holy Prophet :saw: has been carried on by exceptionally gifted people and their authenticity is questionless. People still follow Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Hinduism to this day…Texts thousands and thousands of years old with nary an insight into who preserved them, in what fashion they were preserved or what was actually said.
The science and preservation of Hadith is undoubtedly the most rigorously scrutinized and one of the most great if not the greatest scholarly achievements of preserving words spoken by anyone other than the Quran.
If the Quran is the guide for social or communal affairs, the Ahadith are the stepping stones for individual spiritual enlightenment.
Gadha, there is second part of the Hadiths too, where it's stated that the rich also got air of these prayers and they would recite it as well. On which AnHazoor (saw) told the others, wealth is Allah's blessings, He chose to give to whomever He so pleases.
Maybe you should post it too, to keep things in context.
