How about we establish a GupShup Charitable Fund that can take care of such donations?
Instead of doing this one deserving family at a time, we can have the fund available and whenever the guppies are able to identify and come to a consensus on where the funds should be directed, we can find a trustworthy member to deliver them.
What say all?

Wonderful idea! The need to help the less fortunate always exists and charitable contributions will fluctuate based on donor interest and resources. Being able to make single or multiple donations as the need and finances allow ensures that the donors have choices, while the end recipients still have organized or systemized support.
And GS is a great platform from which to put a call out for help. If you're canvassing interest - I'm interested in participating.

love Spock’s initiative… also, Muzna’s solution is the best way to go about this :k: - this should also alleviate the transparency issue. Anyone who donates to the fund can optionally use their gupshup nick or another pseudonym while donating, and at the end of the month, a list of donations can be made available online for all to see and verify that their donations are accounted for… along with a quarterly report of how the funds were disbursed.
If we can get a move on this now, it would be great. We need to show by example that we care. The first few disbursements or a standing proportion can be allocated to the Sialkot family as the Moiz & Muneeb Memorial Fund.

In order to make this move quickly enough we should move forward with a trustworthy individual that can get these funds to the hands of those that need it right away and work toward the goals that Umar has outlined for the longer term.

I liked the idea of setting up a broader GupShup Charitable Trust that disburses money as causes and needs are identified. I continue to be supportive of this endeavour. What about the rest - are you guys game?

This is not the first time that this membership has decided to reach out and support someone....and it definitely will not be the last.
