majority of people in Pakistan can't even read let alone have access to a computer and internet.
how can they be represented here. It is impossible.

Re: GupShup Forums
GS represents the class of Pakistani's who are moderate, well educated & majority of them living in foreign lands with no prospects of going back.
Re: GupShup Forums
Do you think GS truly represents the nation of Pakistan?
I mean most of us on this forum (at least from what I've observed in the past 2 years) reside outside of Pakistan. Many of us are born and bred outside of Pakistan. Do our posts, our thought processes, our views reflect those of the people of Pakistan?
The question is unfair.
No website/forum can 'truly represent' ANY country's nation.
**
This site has mix of many different thoughts by many different kind of members.**
If the question were to be
"if this site has majority of Pakistani who are born and bred Pakistani and still living there"?
.....then absolutely not.
The views here are mixed.
Many many fake 'Pakistanis' or 'Pretend to be Pakistanis' roam around here. Some we can identify, some we cannot.
A lot of threads and views do not even come close to what native Pakistani will agree to or even consider relevant. (Considering they can read/understand English, the terms/slangs/jokes etc. used here)
Re: GupShup Forums
I don't think GS represents Pakistanis as a nation well.
Majority, I believe would be around 70%, are Pakistanis overseas and many who haven't actually lived here. Mindsets of both those living here & abroad is different.
Also, a big part of Pakistan is a rural community who cannot read, write or even have the ability of understanding many things so that way too GS cannot represent Pakistan as a nation.

Re: GupShup Forums
Dunno.
Re: GupShup Forums
I fail to understand why there are so many ABCDs on this forum. The ones that I have seen in real life want keep distance from everything that is Pakistani.
Re: GupShup Forums
stick around and you will not fail to understand :)
Re: GupShup Forums
Nope. That would require the uneducated to have access to the internet and the ability to communicate. The internet is a medium for the educated masses. Not the uneducated ones. So no it does not represent Pakistan at all.
And if I recall correctly the Pakistani Government took action so that you got rid of the TOPP title.
Re: GupShup Forums
a side question, is there a medium that is representative of all pakistanis?
or which medium is representative of most pakistanis? local papers, radio?
any thoughts?
Re: GupShup Forums
Radio by far has the most reach and most user usage in Pakistan. TV is a close second.

is that FM or AM? many local channels? or for rural areas it is still mostly shortwave that they have access to in terms of programming but not in terms of being heard?
Re: GupShup Forums
From what I know its actually depends on the area. The areas of KP and FATA run with FM and AM both. Most of them time on the road to Malakand or to Buner I have had continous road channels playing music and news.
Honestly never driven through Balochistan or Interior sindh so don't know. But I am assuming both have less coverage than KP, Punjab and Azad Kashmir since they have been neglected by the Pakistani government for so long.

There are FM Radio station in almost all the districts of Sindh besides Radio Pakistan Hyderabad & Khairpur which are broadcasting their transmissions since decades. As far as internet is concerned, I observed ppl using dial up networks (PTCL cards, etc) since 15-20 years and now in many areas cable internet, broadband PTCL are available. But internet is mostly used there for entertainment purposes. I've many friends from small towns of Sindh on my facebook account.

That is honestly brilliant news. Hopefully one day I will get the chance to drive around the area and see for myself.

I have not travelled much in Pakistan so envy your experiences, tell me, when driving around do radio stations change on you, like you could be driving listening to some ghazal channel and all of a sudden it changes into ataullah eesa khelwi
Re: GupShup Forums
hahaha. BTW, Attaullah Eesa Khelvi also sung some nice ghazals
Most of the truck drivers listen to Attaullah. One of my friend said they listen to him bcoz it makes they awake on long routes. In Sindh, there was a famous singer Jalal Chandio who is as famous in Sindh as Attaullah in Punjab. Personally, I think, Attaullah’s following song is good to listen while driving on Highways.
