Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I think everyone on Gupshup has a story to tell. (I may be oh so wrong)

Why did you join these forums? Were you just looking for an online community to interact with? Or did you have some questions that needed answering?

I was going through a major turning point in my life with reference to my relationships, culture, family. I made some decisions that have changed my life in more ways than I can imagine and I can never go back. There were some questions I needed answering. Needed to look at the experience of others before I could evaluate on what to do myself. I threw my questions into Google the wise and it spat back Gupshup forums at me.

Would I go back? Small part of me would. BUT HEY! This thread isnt about me.

Tell me YOUR story. I do want to hear it. CoughCough is Curious.

Edit: I know this may be more of a Cafe thread, but my reason for joining these forums was seeking answers that were to be found in Life1.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I was trying to find pics of some desi dresses and hence ended up in the Wedding forum of GS (it was not for my wedding). Then I started to explore the GS and ended up reading and posting in Life 1. Since many of the members were going through the rishta problems, I felt connection with them and I ended up posting issues related to my rishtas and getting the comments and opinions of others.

I really feel connected to many members on GS. I feel they are sincere to each other since no one feels any harm to be done to others and genuinely give opinions to the best of their knowledge to help others. We get to know many perspectives through different members and this helps us look at our problems from different angles.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I was googling for bridal lehengas for my khala's marriage and came across GS.
Then, I saw a thread in cafe regarding learning arabic & I thought I could help so I started posting & after 6 years I'm still here :D

GS was my very first introduction to an interactive online world. Before that I only used google for info.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

GS was recommended by my friend.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

The Wedding forum was how I discovered GS but the reason I joined and stayed is Life1. People from all walks of life...so many experiences and stories to share...its always fun.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

When gupshup was first started and azkar logged in for the first time I was already here and started hitting on him, and when he explained he was a dude, I demanded that he bring some women on, and he brought muzna. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

It used to be gupistan.com back in early 2000s. It was introduced by my friend when we were in computer lab(2003) and he was posting in cafe. In 2006, I became registered user. Basic intent of joining was to spend time with full fun in cafe.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I googled about desi stuff came here and joined a few months later to post.
then I've been going "wth" everyday at what people say/believe in.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I was searching some poetry when i came across to paklinks then i explore further threads/sections, and ask a query right in this section, that's it

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

Web was kind of new in late 90's and I was looking for Govt of Pakistan web page, when I came across TOPP.org where TOPP was the acronym of - The Official Pakistani Page. Guess who was using that domain? GS off course :D

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I think it was search for news related to pakistan brought me here a decade ago....off course when i was a child.....:D

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

Off course, and that is why Muzna banned you.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

Late 90s, I moved to US and was looking for directory on Pakistan and came across this classic  GS was not really GS in those days but mainly it was banner exchange program and directory of Pakistani resources.

I was not that active on GS before marriage though but my (then) begum-to-be was. It was her association that made me visit GS often and then I joined GS as active user (with new username of course) after getting married.

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

I first stumbled across GS in 2007-2008..my cousin was starting up her home based clothing business and we were googling pakistani fashion when and I stumbled across the Wedding forum. I think (?!?) I registered (or she did) and someone made a snide comment about by post and it ticked me off so I didn’t give GS another thought…lol!

Fast forward to late last summer, when again, via a google search (I think it was fashion/wedding related again) I registered again as this nick, and got hooked on Life1 & AV…and the rest is history!

Omg, I just realized that I probably have a multi out there somewhere that’s been laying dormant for the past 4 years…:e6:

:hmmm:

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say

My story of joining GS is very sad therefore I am not going to share it. :hinna:

Re: Gupshup-Everyone has something to say
