Gupshup censorship standards...

…are pretty dumb! Sure you guyz do a good job of censoring words like fuk, sh!t etc etc, but how the hell could you guyz allow words like fags, niggers and words of that sort to slip thorugh??? IMO these words are more important to censor as people can get offended with them whereas words like fuk and Sh!t dont really offend any one. So if i were you, i would do some deep thinking before going to bed tonight.

A question : how do * or ! change the word?

A censoring code is not a solution. Everybody will have to change. No program is fool proof, people will always find a way to go around it, it's human nature. If we really want those words off of this site, we don't need a code for that, we just need a change in our attitudes and we need to learn how to respect others and earn respect from others as well.

^
When have i asked to implement a censoring code in the forums?? Sure a code would be a bonus but im just asking for admins and mods to do what they already do to words like fu*k without the "*" (which, to answer MQ, btw, is pretty dumb aswell as its obvious what word is being used)

Contact the forum mod if you see an objectionable word, we do our best but we have limited time. So help each other and help the board. Aap logoN ka apna hai, so keep it clean.

I know you are cool and all that and I also know that you didn't ask administration to implement a system but did you miss my post? If you juice the meanings out of it, you'll be surprised to know that what I said meant this: No matter if you have mods/admins editing/monitoring the site 24/7, there will still be some idiots who'll use those offending words. So, having this site monitored 24/7 is NOT going to help unless people decide to change their behavior.

I'm Kool, if you are referring to particular posts in Pak Affairs with the words "nigga" etc, they have been removed today after I saw the thread.

This was one of them but i was also thinking about the excessive use of the word "Fag" in the forums which goes unnoticed. but ur right, that particular post was the reason i opened this thread now but i was thinking about it for quite a while.

The best type of moderation is when the public itself decides that it's just not going to accept certain types of language and/or behaviour.

In the olden days ;), I remember when someone posted foul language the entire public would turn on him/her and say that if he/she wanted to participate in the discussion then they should change their approach, otherwise they would just totally ignore that person.

If the message gets through to the member that they have no importance on the site because of their behaviour, then they are more likely to try and change.

Another option that we used to use is if there was even one objectionable word in the post the whole post would be deleted. I liked this method. Made people straigthen up pretty quickly.

edited.

It works.

The best type of moderation is when the public itself decides [Muzna]

Great, I appreciate this ideology. Does this also work the other way around?

Example:
If "the public" wants a banned person back, do you guys reward that?

PS Although not always agreed with him, i always enjoyed Matsui's post!

Pathwari, if only ppl knew how to respect the fact that we wanted their input. No we don't want to act on pressure, whether ppl call for a ban or want to bring a banned guppie back. Group bazi se ziyada nuqsaan ho jata hai :)

Any banned member can contact the admin and we usually welcome them back.

So, only Group Bazi whenever it fits in your policy.

Should the banned member also bring some flowers when he contacts the Admin?

I think it applies to any unbanned members as well, because any one can contact to any one, but do you leave a window open for them to contact really ? How is your new “scientific system” works ? Does that system allow a ban person to even visit GUPSHUP ? LOL

what to say while in “contact” with admin? (along with flowers and ETC)

any clear statement(for humans) that exactly makes you feel unban them?

ps, you are so cute and more cute

Pathwar aap ko samajh hi nahiN aai to maiN ab kya kahooN?

makhan, daal fey ain ho jao! You still haven't done what I asked you to do so don't talk to me or better yet don't talk at all.

If I don’t talk to you then how would I know what your likings are  let me find some fine jewelry store and I will be right back till then accept this :flower2:
and Can I ban you for a life time for wrong Urdu spell ? either it has to be “daal fay alif” or “daal fay noon” , from where you learnt your Urdu ? :o

Matsui bhaijaan. This is your invitation to contact Admin and all will be forgiven.

Maafi maang or mamla khatam kar. Religion forum is dead without you. And as for General, the things are so bad that even I am posting there.

PAK.org it might be. But without Indians this forum is like masala dosa without the masala.

pathwari,

When you decide to quote my words, please do it in complete context rather than in bits and pieces.

"The best type of moderation is when the public itself decides that it's just not going to accept certain types of language and/or behaviour."

My statement clearly suggests hot to deal with certain types of language and/or behaviour. And in when my response is viewed in light of the inital post by the author of this thread then it is even more evident that I am referring to foul language.

I made absolutely no comment on whether or not public opinion should be priority when banning or unbanning is involved.

Please don't twist my words. Stick to the context in which I have presented them.

Thanks.

makhan,

I PM'd you to keep from embarassing you. I asked you earlier in the week not to clutter up threads in Feedback where legitimate issues are being discussed. If you could not decipher from that message then let me ask you again, publicly. Please do not use this forum as a vehicle to express your sarcasm. If you have feedback to offer, you may do so in clear terms. Your sarcasm and antagonistic behaviour towards members and team is not appreciated.

I don't want to have this discussion with you again.

Thanks.
