Funny that no one quoted this piece of news. May be we all hear what we really want to hear. There have been many threads on judges, and what not. But nobody wanted to mention Gilani and fight against terror in the same post. Or may be I missed that precious little thread.
Pakistani PM Gilani says terrorism main priority

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani laid out plans on Saturday for his government’s first 100 days, saying the fight against terrorism, poverty and unemployment would be on top of his agenda.
Re: Guppies hear what they want to hear. (terrorism main priority - Gilani)
Fightig terrorism has to be the top priority. Having 60+ suicide attacks in the last one year is completely unacceptable. Many innocent people are dying every day, either through suicide bombings or by bombings of our forces in border areas. Unless you are completely blind, you do realize that these are very linked.
The way to fight terrorism may change. Previous govt, under US pressure, was applying brute force to combat this problem. Doesn't seem like it actually worked so far, does it? The new govt says they will begin dialogue and a process of appeasement. Lets see how that works.
If you draw parallals to the US occupation of Iraq, and how the so-called "surge" has reduced the attacks against US military inside Iraq, the lesson is that you just pay your opponents not to kill you. Not sure if this is a viable long term strategy or not. But thats what US is doing in Iraq, as it is paying many different insurgent groups not to attack and kill US forces. May be Pakistan should do the same in FATA and Waziristan and bill the US government.
