Alright Car fanatics (both guys and girls). I’m in need of YOUR advice.

I just recently decided to replace my 15W factory manufactured Honda speakers with 600W 6"x9" speakers for $30.00 (a boxing day bargain).

Now I’m facing a minor problem. The speakers don’t fit as planned and I am open to any suggestions on how to fit in these unstable speakers.

This is how they are sitting on the top right now.

This is a view from inside the trunk. If you notice I can’t bolt them down because the board is made out of metal.

Now hopefully with the pictorial view of my problem you will be able to understand maybe even help me.

Any suggestions are welcome.

hmm
one thing u can do is get 2 boxes for the 6 by 9s, place the speakers in the boxes and mount the boxes above the speaker hole.

or u could return those 6 by 9s and get ur size

btw what sound system do u have

i think i’ll try this idea, hopefully it wont block my rear view. I’m thinking of getting a plank and bolting them down to the holes.

can’t return them, as i said its boxing day bargain so no harm done spending $30.00 for 600W speakers. They’ll come in handy for another car.

btw what sound system do u have

**well i’m building my way up, thinking of getting a 300W amp which is $128.00 and I’m lookin’ for a CD cassette player for a good price haven’t found one yet but still lookin’. As of right now the old system is barely pumping 50W which is loud enuf to keep the noise inside the car and not outside. For now

Its working alright, its BANGING. I just hate the rattling of loose speakers, so I'd rather bolt em down...thats why i'm asking how?

There are two things in my mind

1: If The hosting or the RED plate in which old speaker is fitted is still with u, and is made up of some plastic or fibre then alster it in such a way that the new spaker can fit in it..

2: make a new plate either of wood, or some fibre sheet , in wich a way that the new speakers can fit into it, and that plate can be mounted 2 3 inches above on the old place, but right exactly over it.

Second option is difficult to implement.

also tell me. Currently the speaker size is more than the whole size ???? or whole size is bigger? Im unable to get this from picuters...

Heres some tips from my vast experience in this field..

The 6x9’s have a bigger cone than smaller speakers mostly for the bass response. The best way to install them is to create an air-tight seal between the speaker and the baffle (car backboard). You have to bear in mind though, that 600W is an exagerated power rating. You’re speakers are more than likely around 30-50W RMS and 100W Max.

Car Body

You should cut around the metal and create a hole just big enough for the speaker to fit. If you don’t feel comfortable cutting all the metal, then cut 4 slits either end (diagonal) of the speaker hole and bend the metal inwards. You should then be able to insert the speaker. Make sure it is a snug fit. You can also use a rubber gasket between the speaker and the car to ensure the seal is airtight. Use bolts for the speakers and not screws.

I presume you have a Japanese Car - thus you can use the exisiting speaker wire for your speakers. Japanese car wire is normally good enough for these speakers.
