gunnah or not

is it gunnah to be sitting on the floor whilst reading the Quran if other people are sitting above u? as in on the bed or chairs..

i didnt know it was a big deal until lastnight when i decided to read the Quran on the jaanemaz and everyone was sitting on the bed

why are these things made out to be so big??

because in out culture respect for Quran means to place it "as high as possible" and thats it....

It’s good that you ask Sadzzz…

Nowhere in the Quran or Sunnah does it say how to treat the Quran Sharif, except for the fact that you need to perform Wuzoo before touching the Quran…The rest depends upon the love and respect that you wish to show for the book of Allah :swt:, and that’s what its all about…

Nowhere does it say that it’s a gunnah whether you use the Quran as a footstool to stand upon or burn it up and throw it in the trash…The fact of honoring the word of Allah :swt: by not turning your back towards it or keeping it in a Juzdaan or putting it upon something high so it does not touch the floor or keeping it above all else on the shelf or cupboard are all acts of devotion…And there are still people out there who love the Quran so much they are willing to die to keep its honour…

When someone loves someone, that someone hates for his beloved to be hurt, insulted or ridiculed in any way, much like that, when a Muslim loves his Faith, he loves, cherishes and honours everything about his faith, and hence he shows it by giving utmost respect to the things that are part of his Faith…

How can anyone see his mother be despoiled when he loves her so much? How can anyone see his father be slapped around and not become enraged? How can anyone stand to see his sister humiliated and not be moved? Only if he doesn’t love them will he remain unmoved and apathetic towards bad treatment shown by anyone towards them…Similarly, Muslims love and honour their faith by showing great acts of devotion and respect towards anything that is part or from their faith and are enraged when someone ridicules or mocks it…Today, those that act this way, are called ‘fundos’ and ‘terrorists’…

Majnoo in his love for Laila became obsessed with her…People called him by many names like crazy and ‘pagal’ and deewana…But then again, what do heartless and spiritless people know about love? They can only coin phrases, point fingers and think they are cool…They are not…They are simply spiritually dead…

Nowhere in Islam does it say that if you spit upon the Holy Prophet :saw:'s :naooz: grave will you get Gunnah, but those that hold the Holy Prophet :saw: as their beloved Saviour and Messenger, will kill or be killed as an act of love and devotion to the Prophet of Prophets, even today…

People were willing to sacrifice their families for the honour of the Prophet (SAW), so much was their love for him…During battles, the companions held the flag of Islam aloft even as they lay dying…Not because they had to, but because they wanted to…It was their act of dedication and devotion, and it was this dedication and devotion that made them become the greatest amongst the greatest in mankind…Do you still wonder why these things are made out so big?

Nia Khan once wrote in another thread how the union of two people for the sake of Allah (SWT) is the best…Nothing could be more truer, for those that love Allah (SWT) and everything related to His Deen, could not be more fortunate in finding a partner that loves Allah (SWT) equally if not more than themselves…That is why a pious partner is always preferred…

Today there are those whose eyes well up with tears at the very mention of the Holy Prophet (SAW)'s name…They know the value that this entity has in their lives and what they owe to this Prophet…

Yet, there are those, whose hearts are not moved, who are not angered nor saddened should someone humiliate this man, our Prophet (SAW)…

So you see, like someone, who loves to see the picture of his beloved again and again, likes to read their letters again and again, can’t stop thinking about them and are willing to die and kill for their beloved, there are Muslims who love Islam that much…

So whatever respect, whatever honour you would bestow upon the particles of your faith, would only have to come from your heart and soul…No one can teach you to love, it must come from within…

These things are made big by those who know how to love…

most of what u wrote is just too far-stretched....

spitting on the prophet's name, using the quran as a footstool r much different things from just turning ur back on the quran or reading it by sitting on the floor....

^ Of course they are stretched Mughal...When using examples it's always wise to cover all the bases...:D

BTW, I hope I didn't write anything offensive or anything...They are merely conjectures, but like I said, it's all about respect and love...Not Waajib or Sunnah...

^
not wajib and sunnah, but try to keep bid'aa in the picture.... :)

it is strange how ppl take the literal meaning of this phrase…as far as i know, not turning ur back towards Qur’an means “not deviating from the word of Allah”..

i dont know who came up with this literal meaning, but i have a feeling that tomorrow, someone might even come up and say that never stand with Quran on ur left or right…

as for the "vazoo" before Qur'an..

The Qur'an suggests only the 'pure' can 'touch' the Qur'an.. the literalists as always made rules that no one can physically touch it without performing ablutions first!
