Gulzar Songs - A Tribute

I thought I’d start a thread for a tribute to Gulzar (as a lyricist). He’s by far my favorite contemporary lyricist. Of course, he’s also a movie director and his movies are a must watch.

Here are some of my favorites… please feel free to add more:

10. Chor Aaye Hum Woh GaliyaaN
(movie: Maachis – also directed by him)

I like this songs for nostalgic reasons… It’s nice but I wouldn’t put it in my absolute favourites.

9. Yaara Sili Sili
(movie: Lekin – also directed by him)

8. Tuujh Se Naaraz Nahi Zindagi
(movie: Maasoom)

7. Roz Roz AankhoN Tale
(movie: Jeeva)

I gotta admit though that the video sort of spoils the song… I hadn’t watched the video until now and had quite a different picture in my mind of how this song would be done in a movie)

6. Naam Guum Jaaye Ga
(movie: Kinara – also directed by him)

5. Huzoor Iss Qadar Bhi Na
(movie: Maasoom)

4. Phir Wohi Raat Hai
(movie: Ghar)

I couldn’t find the original for this one on YouTube… it’s from a movie called Ghar (really disturbing movie!)

3. Woh Shaam Kuuch Ajeeb Thi
(movie: Khamoshi)

One of my all time favorite songs of Kishore…

2. Mera Kuuch Saamaan
(movie: Ijaazat – also directed by him)

This is from my absolute favorite Indian movie of all time - Ijaazat

1. Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi
(movie: Aandhi – also directed by him)

of course this has to be no. 1 since the song is so evergreen!
