hey guys i never been on GULF airlines before i dont want any problems.. caz usually i do have problems w/ everything , baggage and everything .. i heard they werent that great before but the travel agent said they are reputable now?? what do yall think !! I need advice FAST!!!

Travelled frequently with GULF airlines, but never on long haul flights.
Just short 2/3 hour hops betweens karachi and Riyadh / Dammam
I think they are pretty decent - and comparatively cheap.

i know a family whsoe whole khandaan travelled bY GULF for a wedding
it prob isn't great if u ahve kids as the journey gets longer but otherwise it not taht bad .....
a bit NO FRILLS as in the airport was!!!

they are ok in just short flight… but if u r going to pakistan… do not travel b ygulf air… its sooo uncomfortable…

Really..is it uncomfortable? I really thought that it is a good airline..i wnted to go in this one to paki..but due to the lack of seats .. we flied in Emirates!

yeah i'm going to be going from LONDON to Muscat for a few hour stop and then to Lahore soo if parissenor says sooo should I take the chance :P I know i really like emirates and i want to go w/ them but alot of us are going and the ticket is about 1640 in the summer soooooooo i donooo

Absolutely terrible experience both times flying with Gulf:
1st time, two years ago:
Flight to Karachi from Bahrain was delayed approximately 6 hours. They gave no explanation. Luggage was also broken into in Bahrain via airport employees … to be honest, this could have happened prior to Bahrain by airport staff in Karachi. Anyway, I complained repeatedly to Gulf and got no response.
Experience this time after Hajj on route to Karachi:
Flight flew from Jeddah to Bahrain. We waited there about five hours and then got on the plane again to Karachi … it makes an unscheduled stop in Abu Dhabi. We were not supposed to get off the plane since we were carrying on to Karachi, but there was some confusion by the Gulf flight attendants on board. They told us to get off. The pilot made an announcement to stay put. Another flight attendant came and sternly told us to take our stuff and get off the plane.
We got off. Next thing you know, there is like a mini riot going on in the terminal cause everybody was asked to get off the plane with no explanation at all. They told us there was a problem with the plane. So we sat there approximately 12 hours and just waited. They didn’t give us a hotel or anything. After 12 hours, we were told that the pilot needed to take a nap which is why he couldn’t fly the plane. Also, the plane would be more full with passengers the following day so they decided amongst themselves (the Gulf staff) that they would just fly the next day.
Events of the next day:
Everybody is bitter and pissed off. We finally get on the plane and there’s not enough room for everybody’s carry on luggage, all the over head bins are full. We have to keep our items under our seats, which were extremely small. We take off … and what happens within 30 minutes? Our flight starts to land!
More confusion, what the hell is going on?
We landed in Muscat without any explanation, told to get our stuff and get off the plane. Everybody departs. We go through security again, and they body check you there, hands going everywhere … 
… and we wait there for about 3 hours. Just sitting and waiting the whole freaking time.
What was supposed to be a short flight from Jeddah to Bahrain to Karachi took us about 3 days (including our commute from Madina to Jeddah) … Jeddah to Bahrain to Abu Dabi to Karachi.
What I have noticed both times flying with Gulf Airways is that they treat you like royalty if you are flying from Europe or to Europe from Bahrain. BUT, if you are flying within the vicinity (Bahrain to Abu Dhabi to Muscat to Karachi), they treat you like crap. Both times this happened.
First time it was our mistake flying with them. Second time it was the Hajj group who booked it so we had no choice but to fly with Gulf.
Never again.

I like Gulf, i have travelled many times with it...Toronto to Karachi and back...no complaints...
but u know which ariline is the worst ... PIA ...avoid it by all means....no matter whatever they promise...they SUCK!

Yeah GULF AIR is actually good but obviously there are exceptions to everything.

Qatar airline’s service wasn’t bad - Manchester to Dubai - apart from the delays on inbound and outbound journies

I've traveled on Emirates, Qatar, Saudia - all are nice, Emirates is the best.
Gulf is crap, it is like a bus service.
There is a new airlines Etihad (www.etihadairways.com) , you can travel to Pakistan from Toronto or UK (visa Abu Dhabi). I heard its good, but no personal experiences.

I must be a rare case because I had no problems with Gulf air for this year’s Hajj. I mean we had a stopover at Bahrain on the way and in Muscat on the return journey and everything went smoothly. No luggage or transfer problems. Just an unscheduled stop at abu Dhabi but I love extra take-offs and landings so it was all good for me :roman:
However the in-flight entertainment absolutely sucks and the stewardesses were a bit cold, though it really depends which batch you get.
