Gulab Jamuns

i have a packet of Shaan’s gulab jamun mix and I want to make it today. The ingredients ask for ghee to make the balls as well as for deep frying. What is another substitute for ghee? I have canola oil, wil that do? or should I get something else?

Also can I add less sugar or substitute that wiht a splenda or equal?

Use canola oil. Don't fry them while the oil is too hot, otherwise they will be too hard in the middle.

I'm sure you can add less sugar to the syrup, usually shaan caters for the Pakistani sweet tooth which is ott anyway.
