I do not know why it is being expected from Muslims to do things not allowed in their religeon…using hidden tactices like 'love between brother-sister etc.!!
No matter what a muslim should not do these acts and whoever wants to tse things better change their religeon…lets close this chapter.

Muslims are not suppose to memorize others religion stuff with references, It was a general statement which most Indian Muslims knew about it and Sadiyah has provided the proof. No body can discuss religion with you because you do not have respect for others. There is no need to bring reference of a Hindu friend's sister. Most of our friendship was at college not at their homes. Looks you have no idea what you right, I think you should think before you write because your threads are empty and have no relation with the topic. Please provide refernces to forum that Muslims should follow other religion acts. But in Quran, there are many references about shirk and there is a hadith about not to follow jewish religious act. I can provide the references in Quran and about the hadith if you are interested.

Rasheed Ahmed , can you tell me the religious importance of this festival? Muslims settlers of India adopted this festive as a traditional one. You can find many examples in mid century history when Muslim rulers accepted rakhi from Hindu girls and the opposite also took place.
And why you want Gujarati Muslims to give up a craft-trade that gives them some earning?

Respecting is one thing and accepting it is another…
Respect for the fact that Christians believe Jesus is the son of god 
is fine, but no where does it say that you must accept it…Acceptance means you are committing Shirk…
While we rush to celebrate the festivals of Mushrikeen with whim and vigor, how many times do we see the Mushrikeen celebrating our festivals with the same gusto?

What you don’t realize, is that partaking in the said events, you are accepting the ideology behind them by your actions…
Muslims celebrating Holi, Basant, Ganpati baba ka din, pooja paat, Christmas, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur e.t.c., all because it gives Muslims a good name, but ask them about praying, they go huh?
That’s basic man…Even if you become the saintliest of men and the wisest of creatures rivaling the Auliyaa themselves whom people loved…If you don’t pray five times, you are no better off a Muslim than Pamela Anderson…

You said it yourself man, or do you not understand what you are saying? When Allah swt said what you mentioned what He meant is that they follow their religion and you follow yours… so how is this rakhi-tying okay for Gujrati Muslims?

Oh man forget about the 1000 year rule. Bihari and UP Musalmaans have been ruled by Hindus for almost 100 years now. FYI the last Muggu Mogal was kicked out in 1857. Gandhi was the true leader of MAToo (oops Khilafat) movement. Azad used to get money by the bags from Nehru. You all Urdu-Khans have been living under Lallu Parshad’s rule for decades now.
Get rid of MAToo attitude and look around. You will find plenty of Hindu and other non-Muslim friends (and yes even Jews as friends). They will all help you get ahead in your life here and the hereafter.

One does not need to master rocket science to find out what is shirk, It is as simple as A B C.
Once you accept Islam, It becomes obligatory on every muslim to acquire knowledge.
And just as one will be asked about other obligations, like prayer, fast, Zakat. Surely one will be asked about this obligation too.
And if one fails to correct basic beliefs then he is in big trouble..

When Musharaff went to India he offered namaz at Dargah in Ajmer. Is he a shirk?and how bad it is that you are being ruled by one. Please rid your country of shriks first, Deedwhatevermia.

How about the muslims who follow sufi saints..they go to their kabr and pray.
It is very common for hindooooooooooooos to go to dargah of sufi saints and seek blessing. What's the big deal?

Well, question remains…how many people do follow sufism? If Sufis were the only one or majority ones who had spread Islam then majority of people would be following the sufism.
So you say whatever Musharraf did for for whatever reason is the confirmation that Sufis spread islam? He only offered a prayer and its acceptable whereever it was offered.
Lahore is a great place and it shows how you feel about pakistani city which celebrates basant when you write it edited…
Its not acceptable if a muslim goes to a dargah of a sufi saint (in Islamic view) for seeking blessings.
Thats just plain ‘Shirk’ but what and how would you know about it?
By the way, what is a dargah?
Why does one have to go to a dargah for blessings where admittedly a great knowedgeable person called sufi was buried?
In my opinion we should not forget the good things done by the sufis but must not get carried away in our actions that it becomes sort of silliness.
Just remember (you may not need to agree) islam says NO ONE besides Allah the supreme power can forgive our bad deeds. A sufi will be just as anxious for mercy from Allah as anyone else. (It maybe that a Sufi will get mercy faster.)
But Allah knows better.

deedwater islam practised in southasia different from what is practised elswwhere
most people visit roadside graves and offer prayer flowers . sometimes both religious practises mix. hindus also offer prayer to roadside muslim saints graves.
south asian Islam provides a space for holy men and esoteric practices and graves appear to be often more ornate than those found in other islamic countries
