I am in Ahmedabad now ,on a Business Trip and is really mesmerised by the kind of growth Gujarat has achieved.Great highways,Buildings and the kind of public support system the government has provided.Almost all major companies have invested here and whoever talks about Gujarat government ,praises Mr.Modi and his efficient bureaucratic division.Poeple say that there is a clear cut transparancy while dealing with government affairs and also e-Governance is reaching even the laymen.I had an oppurtunity to mett a couple of Muslim M.B.A graduates (who are with my organization as freshers)but they kept a complete silence over 2002 riots.There is a foul proof security in place in this state (But still terrorists could strike Ahmedabad in 2008).The most striking thing isthat the state has got some excellent highways and inland roads and the government has taken key initiatives in the areas like education,women’s education,further industrial growth etc.
I felt this state should be a role model for many other states including my mother state Karnataka where growth means just two cities,Bangalore and Mysore whereas places like Belgam and even my native place,the southern Kanara…
I too have heard about Gujarat's amazing achievement. All this is contributed to Modi. However, was he not implicated (and later cleared, I think) in the 2002 riots? And an award given to him, was in retrospect withdrawn?

Modi is a Fascist. Hitler also built roads and expanded industry. The real fact is thar Modi and his regime are a blemish on Indian democracy. They are responsible for the state sponsored death of over 1,000 Muslims. It is a shame but true that Gujratai Hindu Brahmin, Bania and Patidar (the bedrock Modi supporters) are some of the most racist and intolerent people in India. Its not a surprise that Gujarat has been a seen violence against Christians and Dalits as well.
I have always condemened all the fundo/Salafi/ Jamiti extremists in Pakistan, but despair at the lack of similar condemenation by liberal Hindus of Modi/ Thackeray et all.
again, a society that nurtures scourge like "karsevaks" is pretty primitive in its outlook. and the karsevaks killed themselves by illegally cooking with kerosene stoves inside a railway compartment. idiots. societies like gujarat are just waiting for excuses to riot and kill. no thanks.

Major resources produced by the state include cotton, peanuts, dates, sugarcane, and petrol. Gujarat produces about 90% of India’s required amount of Soda Ash and gives the country about 66% of its national requirement of salt.** It is one of India’s most prosperous states, having a per-capita GDP significantly above India’s average**.
Gujarat riot should have been averted but it was a reprercussion of what happened at Godra.I believe this is the general complexion of this region.Without getting in to political debate too much,one can look back and see what happened across the borders after Babri masjid had been demolished.
