Lately I’ve been getting into the trashiest tv shows and very embarrassed to admit that I actually watch and enjoy them (a little). Some of the shows are ‘reality’ shows. Here’s a list of a few I’ve watched.
The Simple Life
Average Joe
Newlyweds
Rich Girls
Extreme Makeover
Joe Millionaire II
The Fabulous Life of… (any star you can imagine)
E True Hollywood Story
That’s just a small list of what’s on t.v. I’m so embarrassed!
Guilty Pleasures is just a term that doesn't really mean something bad...like x rated. But just something that you can't admit to liking. For instance my husband will put on the soap DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Then two minutes later he has to change because something really cheesy happens. He feels so awkward that he laughs at himself for watching it and changes the channel. That's how I feel watching those shows.
We also enjoy old episodes of THE BRADY BUNCH and listening to 80's pop songs like TWO OF HEARTS by Stacey Q. Just cheesy stuff you do alone and don't want anyone to know you like. Cause then everyone would know what a geek you really are. ( I really am).
70s/80s shows are nostalgic, bringing back many fond childhood memories. I like watching re-runs of Chips, Starsky and Hutch, Three's Company, Different Strokes, and MacGyver once in a while. I like 80s pop music even to this day. I used to love Madonna back in the day and had my room completely covered with Madonna, Debbie Gibson, Bon Jiovi, and New Kids on the Block posters.
As far as "trashy" TV, the only 2 shows that come close to me watching for pure entertainment purposes and nothing more, are The Bachelor/The Bachelorette and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I don't really have too much time for junk TV other than that though (but at times wish I did to relieve stress).
I used to be heavily addicted to all of the reality shows .... everything from Temptation Island to Paradise Hotel to The Bachelor/The Bachelorette to Survivor!! I even managed to squeeze in Joe Millionaire. Basically, when I was not studying or going to work, my life revolved around reality t.v. I went away for 2 months where I watched absolutely no t.v. except for a documentary on how racist the UK and Welsh police are coincidentally while I was in Wales. Anyway, it was a good break which I needed. Now that I'm back home, believe me, the only thing I watch now is the BBC World News everyday and occassionally music videos. Other than that, I just can't watch any of these shows cause I know how addictive they are and I prefer doing other things instead now. sigh Thank goodness!
i liked Queer Eye too. They could come and make-over my apartment anytime! As far as re-run t.v. I love Three's Company too. Sweetpie, we're the same age and so we're children of the 80's. i was a big Madonna fan too. Gogo's, Joan Jet, Bangles, Cindy Lauper, Pat Benatar. God I'm old!!

This is the fakest reality show i have ever seen...
In watching The Simple Life you have to realize it's not 'reality t.v' because when would Paris and Nicole really ever do that in real life? They don't consider living on a farm in Arkansas and working for a living as a learning experience. They're just naively trying to prove to people that they can get through it. But they're cheating their way through it. Like the time they put all this merchandise on their boss's tab and then lied like idiots when he confronted them, only to bill it to Paris's credit card. They can always buy their way throughh stuff they don't want to deal with. It's too bad that despite all their wealth and opportunities to do anything in life, they're even stupider than the 'hicks' in Arkansas. They've travelled the world and could have been so educated and sophisticated. But instead they're just trash with no sense of morality or responsibility.
They know they will eventually go back to their lives and their parties, but I doubt that they will grow or learn anything from this experience. Sure we enjoy watching them 'suffer' when they get up at 5am to milk cows. But you just feel disgusted when they cheat their way through what could be an honest days work. Didn't they think about the people who will drink that milk when they were diluting it with water to make the work go faster? It's all a big joke to them. They don't seem to think that anyone else other than them matters.
