guilt....

do you feel guilty
for eating (helping yourself to another serving of fries)
for shopping (buying a pair of new heels with your paycheck)
for being too pretty around someone who is not.
for working overtime in the office and not being able to give time at home
for generally doing things for yourself
do you think there is importance attached to a woman’s outer beauty but at the same time engaging in enhancing your outer beauty is deemed shallow and insignificant…therefore deeming a woman that engages in such as not to be taken seriously? do you think there is a way to achieve balance? Do you spend time and money on how you look and then feel that you deserve not being taken seriously? or do you feel you do not spend enough time on your looks and then feel bad in front of prettier women?
do you have guilt attached to whatever you do? im not talking about DROWNING in guilt…but small pangs of guilt that come and go in intervals. Do you get them?

Re: guilt....

is this one only for the ladies?

Re: guilt....

It would be interesting to hear both sides

Re: guilt....

How can I help being better than most people. Some poeple have it, others try very hard to pretend that they do. In the end we all turn into cabbage fodder, its all good.

Re: guilt....

Yep.. everyone does.. with me it's food. Its natural that people tend to put themselves before others and often splurge on their needs than making the world a better place n pay the price with a lil bit of guilt. I think a lil guilt keeps us grounded... the whole it's the thought that count shows that we're not completely selfish and shallow as we may think.. hence the guilt.

Lol at the being too pretty around someone whose not...

Re: guilt....

Yes, I feel guilty for eating (so much) and splurging, but it only lasts for a few seconds before I forget about it altogether.

It's my money afterall. I do have the right to spend it the way I see fit. Besides, I won't be taking any of $$$ to my grave.

Re: guilt....

opsy on my part for skim reading earlier.

Re: guilt....

thanks for replies.
I was just thinking about issues discussed between a few girls I know and somehow I feel they always feel guilty for what they do....one of them has a weird "im gonna punish myself" mechanism she uses....like if she splurges on a bag today...she'll 'punish' herself by not spending even though she likes something alot....and she can afford it. also alot of girls will splurge on food and then the next day punish themselves by starving....(eating i feel is something most of you agreed as feeling guilty for...including myself).More answers would be nice.
The part about feeling guilty around women that YOU THINK arent as pretty as you.....Has no one ever met a girl that said "oh i complimented her because i felt bad.....i dont really think she's pretty"

and yes i sometimes feel guilty for worrying too much about my hair/skin/clothes....I get guilt pangs and feel i should be doing something more worthwhile with my time....the keyword being "sometimes" ;)

do you think there is importance attached to a woman's outer beauty but at the same time engaging in enhancing your outer beauty is deemed shallow and insignificant...therefore deeming a woman that engages in such as not to be taken seriously? i read this the first time, sounded ridiculous, read it another time and then another time and then another time, still sounds ridiculous.
do you think there is a way to achieve balance? -** sure why not**
Do you spend time and money on how you look and then feel that you deserve not being taken seriously? - no wayyyy

or do you feel you do not spend enough time on your looks and then feel bad in front of prettier women?** Nope**

do you have guilt attached to whatever you do? im not talking about DROWNING in guilt...but small pangs of guilt that come and go in intervals. Do you get them? *Not whatever I do *

Re: guilt…

do you feel guilty for eating (helping yourself to another serving of fries) nope
for shopping (buying a pair of new heels with your paycheck)** i don’t buy heels, so this question doesn’t apply to me :D**
for being too pretty around someone who is not. this is a weird question - hmm..my answer would be no?
for working overtime in the office and not being able to give time at home nope
for generally doing things for yourself nope
do you think there is importance attached to a woman’s outer beauty but at the same time engaging in enhancing your outer beauty is deemed shallow and insignificant…therefore deeming a woman that engages in such as not to be taken seriously? okay, i got lost after ‘do you think…’ :rotfl:

do you have guilt attached to whatever you do? im not talking about DROWNING in guilt…but small pangs of guilt that come and go in intervals. Do you get them? ahhh…no, do you ?

Re: guilt…

:hehe: when i’ve ever helped myself to another serving of fries I actually feel proud that I did something to gain weight(which i NEED to and have been trying to do for AGES)…

Re: guilt....

^ ..and do you feel like being disliked by all the girls here? :D

sigh you've been trying to gain weight for ages..i wish i could say the same ...

Re: guilt....

^Trust me, being underweight is just as frustrating as being overweight...especially you have to check in a dozen of stores to find something that actually 'fits' you. It's really not so cool to be slim as it looks...sighs

Re: guilt....

^ well there's always size 0 and size 1 :D

i don't consider myself overweight or underweight, but there's still that pressure to stay 'fit', especially at the age that we are at now ..you have to have a certain 'look' ...

ah well ..who cares as long as you're happy with who you are.

btw, so do you like pig out and eat everything..? :D that must be great ..eatin' 6 slizes of pizza, ice cream everyday, chocolates, fries..yummy :)

Re: guilt…

:hoonh: no wonder u feel so guilty for hanging out with me :teary2:

ermm, yes i feel guilty all teh time, for hanging out when I shud be at home wiht ammi, for facebooking/gupshupping when i shud be with ammi, for studying english when I shud study something like accounting or medical, for spending more time getting my eyeliner n eye makeup right than spending proper time studying or writing a paper.. :bummer:

Re: guilt…

That’s it , im never believing another compliment u give me

Re: guilt....

I don't entertain any guilt aside from feeling guilty for not spending EVERY free minute studying and doing school-related stuff. Yes I don't spend any time with family because of that and that is okay, I don't feel guilty about that, my sister studies every minute too.

I don't spend money on clothes / shoes and don't worry about looks so the rest doesn't apply.
