My freind is moving to the UK as a HSMP immigrant. His wife is the main applicant. She is a teacher by profession (maths and science) and expect to get a position in a school.
They want to avoid London as accomodation is quite expensive there. I request the guppies where should they settle in the UK - the place where the accomodation is cheaper, appropriate job opportunities and pakistani neighbourhoods (or muslim) are their concerns.

yup
has a higher percentage of desis in population than london
housing is def cheaper
and due to so many asians, opportunities especially in education field for asian professionals are pretty good as well.

I think they should try Manchester and Bredford, Accommodation is very cheap–they can get a nice 2 bedroom house for like 400 quids, pakistani can be found in every street on manchester but its kind of pind

The further NORTH you go, the cheaper the Cost of Living will be.
For example you could move to Preston or Blackburn or even Manchester and find it's a lot cheaper to live than in the southern counties (I should know I moved from the South to North West when I got marrieD!). The COL may be a little higher in Manchester though.
There's a big muslim community in Preston for example and there are a lot of job opportunities within the city and in the little towns nearby. Excellent public transport links to and from Preston.
Accomodation - I take it that they will initially rent?
There are a lot of private renting opportunities in Preston and Blackburn - a lot are owned by muslims and do tend to be fairly cheap and in good neighbourhoods.

If by any chance I move back .. it has to be a place , renowned for its literary festival, ladies’ college and majestic racecourse…
