Guess who tried modelling !

I wish I could get my hands on a sari...I think it would suit me well. Lekin my aunts always use the excuse that its not in fashion anymore...I just dont think they want to spend all that money on the cloth...

I don't know why so many young girls are discouraged from wearing sarees. Some girls have told me that I shouldn't wear it till I get married cause it's unsuitable for single girls. :D What nonsense!

I love sarees. I have only three so far but I will be getting more from Karachi. Apparently, there's some saree outlet where designer sarees are sold for cheaper than boutique prices. That is definitely on my 'places to shop' list.

^

Could you post some pix of your saris here :-)

Mq, Pm me the saree pic, please!

Sabah20: I have a similar saree, very similar look. I did post a pic in the same saree in eid dresses thread.

And about sarees, I have more sarees than the traditional shalwar kameezes. I love sarees, very chic and elegant.

A belt...but exactly where and how? Doesnt is show or look odd?

Rukhsarbibi-- Its not so tough. So long as you have it on properly and something to hold it up, you dont fall!

Deviliciousss--- You have to post pics of it.I would love to see your saris.

cbio--- I dont look half as good or elegant as yourself.:o

mehnaz - what saree outlet is this?

Let us know when you find out.

Yeah, that's what my mother tells me - she discourages me because its inappropriate for single girls. I think its rubbish too, but when it comes to desi clothes, she has control of the purse strings.

why is it inappropriate :-s

Saaris r pretty but the lady isn;t wearing them properly I think. Especially the first two.,.what did she do with the pleats? They look so flat from the front. I like the first two myself.

i don’t have a single Saari :crying: i would really love to wear a saari but there has never been an occasion to wear. What event have you girls worn saaris to?

Aww jal pari you should get some! Esp since Toronto has so many desi stores.I have worn mine to weddings.Cant really recall any other even at the moment.

some more.I guess I'll print some of these out and try to get smiliar designs/colours from Pakistan or India.

I’d rather have my chick wrapped in newspapers..

Sari’s are horrible, a bigggg turn off, not to mention part of India/Hindu culture.

Let us move away from it now, we have our own identity and Shalwar Kameez is part of it.

Sewn clothing beats unsewn clothing anyday, I just found out. :snooty:

since when can you have a shalwar kameez made of newspapers?????
how would one sew one?

when I saw the title of the thread and who wrote it, I thought, "wow, muslimqueen is modeling. This should be interesting." Then I thought, "nah, she can't be a model. She is way too ugly for that." So I wasn't surprised when I found out that you were not the one doing the modeling.

^ watch it little one. You're throwing around more insults than usual these days. Khairiat? All is well in kindergarten?

I was kidding mohtarma. Muslim auntie knows I wub her.

its not literally a belt its just called a belt...its like the pleats are ironed on and set so theyll never come out and once u wrap it around theres like a "belt" system with "holes" and a hook so itll fit everyone
i hope that explains it coz its confusing me now :S

:k:

my feelings exactly. Why not start worshipping idols and doing the fire dance too.

When I wrote the title I thought "all these folks will be dying to see what its all about.Imagine their disappointment when they notice Im not a walking talking ad".I have to admit I was 101% right.

The sad part being , you'll never see my ugliness.
